Cricket australia contracts

International Vice-Captain
If an opener does go down in SL or SA, hopefully Hilditch will be gone by then anyway and his replacement will put Katich back in, even if only temporarily, because surely ANYONE with half a cricket brain would do that.

It's interesting that out of the 3 most senior players in the side (Katman, Hussey, Ponting) they decided to drop one, and then they made it the best performer from the last 3 years and the youngest.

What a video, id be surprised if our selectors survive this review, we all know they are a joke, it just makes you more angry that we lost the Ashes due to mostly crap cricket, but to ridiculous selections. And now we have Chappell, we are stuffed, the Indians were already laughing at how much we stink, we didnt need GSC of all people to come in a wreck things further. If only David Hookes were alive, i'd love to hear his thoughts on this topic on breakfast radio!!!! He'd be Australian coach by now....
Oh, Jesus H ****ing Christ in a handbasket of poo, no. You think Hilditch is bad, Hookesy was the all-time absolute worst judge of talent ever.

Epic presser by Kateesh, oh man I've never wanted a cigarette before but after watching that...... Absolute legend, nothing can ever taint his legacy now.

I'm sure Hookesy couldn't be so bad that even inanimate objects had a negative opinion of him

Spluttering typos in my haste to stomp on even the faintest notion of Hookesy being in a position of selectorial power. I loved Hookesy, he was my hero growing up and even more so when I met him but just noooo.

One thing disturbs me greatly that seems to have been overlooked.

What the **** was the CA staff doing letting him play with a broken thumb whilst telling him it was bruised?

Katich, WAFG

You've got to love the logic from the Australian selectors. I understand that they want to move on a couple of the older batsmen, but how Katich gets dumped when Ponting and Hussey get retained is beyond me.

edit: I see Jake's already made my point for me.

Just watched the press conference in full.

An absolute stand up citizen. If he was our Test captain I would be proud. And I have no doubt he'd be a success in that role and restore the backbone that Australian cricket is currently missing.

I think we've also lost sight of the fact that he can comfortably - genuienly comfortably - bat anywhere from 1 to 6 in the order. It's not like he is a specalist opening bat and specialist opening bat only, he carved out his career in the middle order and has only opened since 2008.

Am I the only one that chuckled about the fact that 3 of our 4 Test selectors (Cox, Hilditch, Boon) are opening bats, but there are only 2 opening bats in the top 25 players in the country?

Simon Katich - a real man's man. That might have been what has cost him his career.

Just watched it, great press conference.

"Tendulkar was written off a couple of years ago, ironically by one of our selectors"
:laugh: WAG. I see Chappell is making friends outside of India too.

So funny. Sometimes it feels like creating an equation that takes into account averages and runs and wickets and makes selection decisions automatically might be better off than selectors with their biases and agendas.
