I am not sure where you guys got that notion in this particular thread. The specific point being discussed there was Eoin's technique against the swinging ball. For sure, performance against spin is just as important.

If there is some CW history related to this supposed prejudice against spin, then I must confess complete ignorance on that part. Am a noob here!
Sorry. Jumped the gun there a bit. But players with a lot worse or comparable techniques to Morgan (Ganguly, arguably Gambhir?) have enjoyed plenty of success in their Test career with a bit of discipline and application.

The Sri Lankan bowling is a little negative, but not excessively so.

But the over rate is disgraceful.

Almost every ball bowled at the batsman or the stumps has gone for runs, so the slow pace of the game is almost entirely down to SL's negatively wide bowling.

The umpires should have a loud word with them.

Spectators at the ground have paid a damn high price for their seats, and SKY viewers like me pay a high monthly cost. We don't want to see such wide bowling and negatively slow play.

The Sri Lankans are avenging the English spectators for their defeat in Cardiff!

I really do think when this tactic gets employed the umpires should start being extra harsh on wides.

Lol 32 overs left and it's half an hour since tea!

The ICC should just say you don't have your lunch and tea breaks until you've bowled 30 overs. Any extra time it takes to bowl the overs eats into the breaks.

These 3 hour evening sessions are getting ridiculous.

I'd be mighty pissed with that if I was the batsman. Having to compromise on my tandoori chicken munching time because of the fielding team's indiscipline is not on! :@

Doctrove's a moron, worst umpire in test cricket.
Now that Harper and Ashocker are gone, yeah.

EDIT: Not perfectly timed, but on-drives are always a good sign.

EDIT2: And half an hour later the over ends.

3 no-balls in this over from Maharoof. Crap bowling tbf.

Only the boundary riders have saved the roof from conceeding 20 runs.

Shame, Cook's mis-timed a pull straight into the air and is gone for 96.

Well played Alistair Cook - again. Top batting.
