 Hows the malt?

BTW : A Small correction : Dhoni's from the Northern Hemisphere. Not that it really matters!
Well spotted.

The malt is/are still to arrive. On 22nd of this month. I am expecting four bottles. Two from each of my sons. One 16 year old Lagavulin, one 18 year old Caol Ila, one Coleburn 1981 and a Brora 1982 24 Y !!

I cant wait :)

he is proving to be a very good captain alright. He is yet to lose a test match in his 10 outings and has won 7 of them not even one against a minnow. Also he averages 68 as captain which mirrors his superlative batting in ODIs as captain.

Can you stop peddling this ****?

Dhoni, Raina, Morkel, Hussey are giants of T20, it's complete rubbish to suggest that Chennai are somehow devoid of stars.

Not to mention Badri, Ashwin, Bravo, Bollinger etc. The only bad player in the side is Jakati.

not really.

none of the above were anything near superstars when they were initially drafted into the csk squad. badri turned it up actually in current yr ipl. bravo has been in n out. ashwin has been developed under dhoni and bollinger is a good overseas pro.

hussey raina and dhoni are the only brilliant t20 players in the team. rest all hav punched above their. weight. look at the likes of test specialist vijay. he didnt have a great season but dhoni persisted with him. or jakati.

one win can be fluke, like warne, but two wins, a runner up and a semi spot in the 4 ipls suggest more than that. add to it clt 20, of course there r the world cup and test no.1.

Bravo has been a big hitting batsman in international cricket right from his debut for 5 years now and he is awesome in domestic T20s in general. In and out? This is Bravo's first season for Csk and he joined the squad half way into the tournament.

Badri has missed one game for Csk in 4 seasons and was a huge name right from the start 4 years ago.

Ashwin developed under Dhoni? He developed by playing domestic 4 day cricket. He wasn't picked out of the blue by Dhoni, he performed in the FC games and got in to the side on merit.

And lol at your thoughts on Bollinger. Been among the top 10 international fast bowlers ever since he started playing regularly for Aus.

seemingly u havent been following bravo of late, or in ipl...

ashwin may hav been picked for his 4 day perf, but fact he wasnt a superstar t20 player. he became one under dhoni. there have been much more talented chaps like ojha and mishra and piyush chawla and the likes, but allthese guys perhaps havent set ipl on fire as this guy has done. dhoni has backed him like anything.

please dont tell me abt badri. chap's been branded a test guy for long, even though he's been a familiar face in csk. again under dhoni he seems to have metamorphised into a genuine t20 player....

none of these guys individually dominate the battingor bowling charts. csk was middling and actually were at the bottom half halfway into the toruney iirc. nbut somehow he has marshalled his troops to yet another win.

also there is raina, who blossomed into a wordl class t 20 player in last 3 years. even when he had his diff times, dhoni has backed him....

and then there are the vijays and jakatis who wouldnt ideally be expected to be anywhere near gud players in this format. but somehow they all seem to come gud under this guy.

Dhoni walks on water la lala lala lala. We get it. Too sleepy to respond to some of that bull **** will do so tomorrow if I remember.

It's interesting that Bun managed to find this Precam thread and bump it.

Very interesting tbh.

Haha what? Bollinger's rise has very little to do with CSK, his entry to the IPL came after he had established himself as arguably the first-choice bowler in our attack.

Haha!!
Bollinger surely has not developed Under Dhoni.Neither Has Bravo.

Ashwin probably has though. He has grown leaps and bounds since he started playing the IPL.
And then when he got selected for the Indian team he has also played under Dhoni and done well.
He is helped by Dhoni having faith in him surely, though it may not be the only factor.

Raina has improved too in the past few years ,and Dhoni has backed him to the hilt in all forms tbh.

And Albie Morkel has been used by CSK in a fashion that South Africa have criminally avoided to do so.
Vijay has improved too at CSK and so has Badrinath this year ,though he wasn't backed enough the previous years in terms of batting position.

Not sure again how much that is down to Dhoni specifically though.

Dhoni is an excellent captain. He uses the resources he gets the best. That is his standout.. He didn't suddenly make these guys better players.. They themselves became that but he gave the opportunity and at every level, he takes more good decisions than bad ones..

The difference between Dhoni giving the ball first up to his best bowler and Sachin holding him back is what differentiates good captaincy and bad captaincy, IMO... Sachin seems to have gone the Sanga/SL way of trying to strangle and win than to attack and win and that just cost them.. That strangle method fails more often than not when you are playing teams who are just as strong as you are..

And what was the need to Bring Sachin into this?
Hb,you seriously seem to have some problem with Sachin.

Dhoni does the same for India many times too keeping the best bowlers over back a bit and did the same in the WC final with ZAK when he kept bowling Sreesanth when a wicket fell to get his overs finished rather than ball ZAK to take another wicket.

Dhoni is a overall a better captain than Sachin,no doubt but don't think this point is relevant to the debate we were having here.
