**Official** Sri Lanka in England / Scotland - 2011

Starting to look mighty familiar this.
Yeah, and not just the batting. The Sri Lankan attack could be called a clone of the Australian attack. If we are allowed a bit of poetic licence in the use of the word 'attack'.

Nah, the Aussie attack had very potent moments but was just horribly indisciplined for the majority. This attack started off trying to give nothing away but has grown frustrated.

Also worth noting this attack has one luxury that the Aus attack almost never did, good runs on the board.

They just have to give the ball to Mendis. They have tried everything else, and it is just not working for them.

This is exactly why adding one more ineffective bowler to Sri Lanka's ineffective attack was pointless.
It's not like they have an embarrassment of riches, tbh! Fernando and Nuwan Pradeep got injured, Vaas and Murali have retired.

Maharoof was their best bet considering the guy has batted and bowled well in county cricket. They surely need enough bowlers to take 20 English wickets. I am not sure if there are better bowlers waiting in the wings.

His point was that playing five bowlers because your best four are crap rarely actually works. Picking more bowlers doesn't mean you get to bowl more overs. Five proper bowlers is great if they're different and.. good.. but what does taking Maharoof off for Perera actually accomplish exactly? They bowl the same stuff and they're both dire.

Cooky's test average looking very healthy at this stage of his career, almost forgot about his exploits during the English winter.

Looking good for these two once more, they are both awesome at present. Just play each ball on its merits and are prepared to bat for long periods. Can't ever remember having a couple of guys in the England top 3 who have such an appetite for scoring runs all the time.

For all the moaners about scoring slowly early on, the only way England could lose this game was to collapse today, the only way we can win it is by scoring heavily in this innings and seeing Sri Lanka buckle under pressure on day 5. Cook and Trott have done exactly what was required, England need to be batting at tea tomorrow to have any chance of a win, plenty of time for the shotmakers to score quickly tomorrow.

This attack would legitimately be improved by Dilhara Fernando, and when I say that it really means something as I think he's one of the most over-rated (and over-selected) bowlers of all time. Nuwan should obviously be playing too but he's basically just an improved version of the sort of stuff that's already out there.

England need to get a good dose of batting practice for the rest of today, as tomorrow will probably start as today did with light rain, and there could be some more organised rain mixed in which might not stop until well into the afternoon.

I hope Cook and Trott get themselves 100's and KP gets in for 10 overs or so and throws his bat at everything.

Nailed on draw.

They still sucked massive hairy balls at Brisbane with a big first innings lead. Not letting them off that easy :p.
