Beer wasn't horrible in the test. Wasn't great by any stretch though.

Our selectors are ********. It should've been O'Keefe in Sydney and everyone knows that. If O'Keefe got picked and did nothing in that test I'd hope he would be afforded the same luxury as Beer and selected for the A tour.

I agree that what has gone on in the past is a joke, but we can't just keep giving spinners one test and turfing them. I repeat, I agree it should have been O'Keefe, it wasn't, they went with Beer. Let's give him a chance to fail/succeed on his own accord without just turfing him because he didn't take 5fa in his first match.

but it's not just the test match. he's done nothing in 12 fc matches. he did nothing for WA after the test. O'Keefe kept up his good form. being the incumbent should mean **** for beer

that said i consider krejza the bigger joke here. stick a fork in him already.

Dude, you're saying everything everyone has allready said a billion times. What's done is done.

I was as critical as anyone of Krejza but I reckon if there's ever a time for him around the Australian set up it's now. When he was picked our pace bowling attack was so loose, would go for 4-5 runs per over without batting an eye lid, then you had a big spinning attacking spinner like Krejza who gave no control to Ponting. It should've been Hauritz then, but now our pace bowling attack bowls with more control (Jonhson aside normally) but lacks penetration so I think Krejza is worth a cheeky look in if they're not going to go with SOK.

i feel it should be stated again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again

(and there won't ever be a time for krejza around the aus team)

david boon clearly agrees

I can only think/hope that that means SMarsh is pencilled in for the SL tour.
Mr 'I love the media' Chappell's latest article in cricinfo is about Shane Watson should keep opening and how he sees David Warner as a longer form player.

Considering three test match berths opened up over summer and Shaun Marsh was in great nick, him not being chosen for one of them was a massive pointer, I think. He's toast for now. He'll have to score a shedload next summer to even be considered.

I'm still have difficulty with the SOK and Copeland as one day picks. Our selectors are quite mad.

Which is so stupid. Don't mind if he doesn't start, but it's the perfect time for him to be in the squad.

Hence we need to get rid of these selectors and have a clean slate without having these stupid issues like Beer holding us back.
How is Beer holding us back? He has only played 1 Test ffs and looked pretty decent too. It's Hauritz who left me tearing my hair out for a year and a half.

Edit: agree with benchy that SOK should have been given his spot, but lets not dispose of Beer that quickly. Anyways this is hardly as bad as for example Hilfenhaus keeping his spot or worse Steve Smith.

Not sure of the timings, but is it possible that O'Keefe has been omitted because he's going to be in the full squad?

That'd be pretty surprising since there's been no press to suggest it and he was largely ignored last season.

Yeah but picking O'Keefe would sorta make sense. He's a great contributor; can do a job with the ball whilst taking handy wickets, can bat quite well (comfortable Test 8 and may improve well enough to bat 7) and is a gun fielder.

i.e. just the sort of player GChapp hates so he'll never play Test cricket.

Yep no doubt Chapps dont like him. Pity, as SOK is a really talented player who just might be a killer test player, maybe more than Smith will ever be. At least his bowling is at FC level already.

SA 'A' has picked their squad.

A. Morkel and Ingram were not picked for personal reasons. Faf Du Plessis wasn't mentioned, so not sure if that makes him a regular now.

Jacques Rudolph (c)
Loots Bosman
Jonathan Vandiar
Morne Van Wyk
Heino Kuhn
Dean Elgar
David Miller
Farhaan Behardien

Roelof Van der Merwe

Ryan McLaren
Rusty Theron
Vernon Philander
Craig Alexander
Rory Kleinveldt
Ethy Mbhalati

Supposedly there is some 'A' T20 tourney in Malyasia right after this tour...Australia, New Zeland, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa & ICC Affiliate XI are invited.

For SA...

Richard Levi & Vaughn Van Jaarsveld replace Elgar and Kuhn for it & Parnell & Ethan O'Reilly replace Alexander & Kleinveldt.
