'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

Two top-order batsmen getting caught in the deep on the second day of a Test match is unacceptable. Especially, when your side is trailing by more than hundred runs.

Meh, people being over-critical of that shot IMO. When Roach is at the crease and you're batting on 57, yeah you can have a go I reckon.

He was, by all reports, an excellent slipper in his prime. I think he's just struggling to let go of what's clearly not 'with him' at this age.
That explains it. I was just about to ask why the captain has planted himself as a permanent fixture in the slips.

Is it just me that finds the constant shouting and remonstrating of the Pakistani team annoying when the spinners bowl?? Even when it's a nothing ball miles outside off-stump they're up in arms screaming.
Also the constant appealing with balls pitched outside leg or contact outside off is annoying.

Ajmal's doosra needs to be banned, and I'm surprised only Samuels could pick it... It's quite obvious from a front-on view.
Even his normal delivery is iffy.

He's a good enough player to play ground strokes and still score fluently. Remember how Roach and Bishoo added important runs in the first Test. Also Ajmal and Tanvir here added useful runs which could ultimately decide the match. Marlon should have backed the tail to bat around him. There was no shortage of time in the Test match. Disappointing, really!

I'm struggling to develop any interest in watching today's play, after that inept display!

I'm even more stunned at the incompetence of the groundsmen....

The Windies are leading 1-0 in the series, and they're going to a ground where the average first innings score is 500. So, obviously it's more of the same, right?

No, the groundsman prepares a pitch that is more at home in Karachi than St Kitts....

If India are watching this they will only need 1 seamer for the tests. UV can open the bowling with Zaheer. Hopeless and who is the bigger passenger, the Captain or the VC? No road = no runs for Nash.

Very true. But I see something very positive here. After two years in the wilderness, Samuels looks to be hungry for runs and that wasn't a term (run-hunger) that I would have used for Marlon, say five years back.

The half-century he just completed is an example of that new-found application. I've just seen the glimpse, but if this man applies himself well and delivers what he is capable of, sky is pretty much the limit for him. Let's hope that another immensely talented West Indian doesn't sell himself short in the long run.
Excellent assessment....

That's the good news. But the Windies have other problems:

Baugh is not a replacement for Ramdin....

His keeping is no better than Ramdin's, and his batting is a step down, so far. Nash looks a shadow of himself, and the other two batsmen who need runs in the second innings to save their places in the side are Sarwan and Bravo, who've both been very disappointing. Samuels looked like the only batsman with the right mental approach to the game in that innings.

That was a very disappointing approach to batting by a lineup that's clearly going to struggle, without Shiv and Gayle in the team....
