'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

Bishoo gets Misbah. Good bowling, beat him in the flight. This guy is a quality prospect.
Thought Bishoo has looked better in this test than he did in the last. However, he has got pitches that have been turning square and I personally think that he bowls too flat to be a consistent threat against quality batsmen especially on pitches that arent conducive to spin bowling. Not that he doesnt have potential but I do think he's very raw at this point and Pakistan arent helping matters by making him look like Shane Warne.

Rampaul has taken three wickets for just seven runs so far....
Im not sure what to make of Rampaul. Having had a good look at him, I dont he's bowled as well as his figures suggest. Decent fill in bowler, but I'd honestly put Sammy down as a better bowler than him. Certainly, Edwards and Taylor both deserve to be in the side ahead of the two of them when they are at full fitness.

Tanvir Ahmed should be dropped from the plane on the flight back to Pakistan. Why the f*** is he playing? Why the f*** is he in the squad anyway?Dropping Gul was acceptable, but bringing in this douche is not. They should have picked Junaid Khan for the squad instead of Grandpa.
Not that I disagree with you, in fact never seen him bowl. It would seem that 14 wickets in 3 tests is hardly something to balk at though, out of curiosity what is his deal?

Edwards has got to be the most overrated bowler on here since his injury, he's ridiculously inconsistent. Don't see why he should walk in over Rampaul, who bowled great in the WC, ODI series against Pakistan and now in the Tests.

Not much to disagree with, Im hardly the most devoted Edwards fan but if you ask me theres a place for him in the side as long as you have 1 or 2 other control bowlers to work with him.

Rampaul taking wickets through poor strokeplay doesnt make him a world beater. Nor does his short ODI success speak to his ability in the whites.

Rampaul owed one wicket (Shafiq) yesterday to a bad stroke. His disconcerting bounce is troubling a lot of batsmen these days, including Tendulkar in the WC. Actually, even the Shafiq wicket could be put partially down to that, as he couldn't get on top of the cut shot. He's bowling very well these days, even getting reverse swing into the right-hander with the old ball, on top of bowling long and testing spells with the new ball. Bowled 7-8 overs with the new ball yesterday at very good pace. Definitely deserves a run in the side looking at his recent performances IMO.

I'm not arguing that he doesnt deserve a run. I'm just expressing my concern that I don't think it (he) will last.

For all intents and purposes hes only really had success against a Pakistan lineup that one could be argued is the equivalent of a minnow. Outside of that he's had success in one world cup game.

7 to 8 overs is not a long spell I would think.

And Pakistan batting is probably the worst of all test playing nations in the world. Add to that the woeful fielding and you have a disastrous package. The real test is coming up for WI when India land in the carribbean. We'll see then what stuff Rampaul is made of.

P.S. Tbf it will be a test for all the WI bowlers

Even though the quality of batting that he's bowling too is questionable, I think Rampaul's considerable improvement can be seen through his ability to sustain higher speeds, a very good seam position and a much improved radar.

India may find it harder but the batting is good and you expect the batsmen to at least put in some application.

I personally think the WI bowlers are not as good as they are being made out to look. As TEC mentions Bishoo is being made to look like the next Shane Warne

Agreed, Rampaul is indeed a better bowler than he used to be. But he also still seems to be a very limited bowler.

Sehwag will be really missed in WI IMO, it's the type of conditions that are more to his liking than England/SA.

Do you mean pitches that bounce

Nah but the Indian batting is just way too strong for the Windies to really compete.

Sehwag tends to struggle more with a combination of swing and bounce (see record in Aus vs. record in SA). Plus WI tracks are generally on the slower side including the previous game, this one is an exception in recent times.

I missed most of last night, but how has Roach been bowling. Seems to be quite economical without making an impact in the wicket column
