He'll probably get munro's spot.Ridiculous choice, and if he does pull it off, I take it he isnt concerned about taking the place of a middle order batsman who actually has a future in the game?

Not that I don't agree with the sentiment but in fairness to Crowe, his career was cut down somewhat by injury. Would surely have rankled a bit to have retired at 32.Yeah agreed. It's a pretty selfish move. He's had his career (and a fine one at that) and now it's time to move on.
Not really meaning to attack you, just your view on Crowe's intentions and how he conducted himself. The media has beated it up a bit more than anything else.He could have halved the time necessary to get himself into the team if he had've handled it right, anyways - just my view Athlai.
Cheers
Could say that, I personally like to pick a team based on the best players, then again I believe professional sports should be about winning.Ridiculous choice, and if he does pull it off, I take it he isnt concerned about taking the place of a middle order batsman who actually has a future in the game?
No, but the problem is that Crowe may be slightly better than a young player and that young player is not picked, thus stifling his opportunity to improve which you do by facing higher quality bowling.Nah, if he wants to play First Class cricket and he can get there on merit then good on him. If somebody is going to lose there spot to a 48 year old who has been retired for 15 years it should be viewed no different to losing your spot to a 19 year old. If you can't make the team you obviously aren't good enough, it's not like he wants to walk into the side.
awtaMartin Crowe was the best batsmen around in his time - he somehow managed to combine the grace of a Gower with the power of a Richards - can't see him still being able to cut it at 48, and if he can't I sincerely hope he doesn't spoil the memories by trying, but if has still got it then I can't wait to see it
should have read: why doesn't he get himself a harley or a hurley.why doesn't he just go and get himself a harley or bang some women (other than his wife)? so much simpler.
Wtf, what is the point of a state system then?? Ofcourse it's designed to find international cricketers.First class cricket isn't a system created just to find guys you might want to play international stuff one day. There is a great deal of merit in a guy like Crowe finding legitimate success in the game, for one it will help pass on things like patience and technique to his fellow Auckland batsman, for another it'll help bowlers think about how to bowl at buggers like him.
Chances are he won't ever get to a level worthy of first class cricket and this won't come up, but to make out like he'll destroy a portion of NZ cricket in his attempt at playing a few more first class games is so very woeful.
No doubt, but think about it.If at 48 years old, Martin Crowe can push someone out and get a place on a first-class side in New Zealand, then it doesn't say much for the talent available in NZ at FC level....

DWTA.Wtf, what is the point of a state system then?? Ofcourse it's designed to find international cricketers.
If he wants to teach all those things to players then become a coach!
He won't ruin a portion of NZ cricket, but he may ruin the career of a potential Martin Crowe...
Marketing opportunities aren't all bad. Raising the profile of the domestic game can only be a good thing. For one thing, it might help to attract the next Martin Crowe to want to play cricket in the first place. No doubt, but think about it.
Say there's a decision between two players who are producing close to equal output. One a young batsman, untested and unheard of. And then Martin Crowe. The administrators are going to push for Crowe for the marketing opportunities he will create, even if they wouldn't admit it.
That would be a travesty itbt.
