Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL)

imo Afridi should play this league and announce his retirement from int cricket.
Why so. I think he is the captain that Pak needs. A person who speaks out. "Bande nu banda bana ke rakhuga" I guess that is how Pak players perform at their best :). The potential was always there

On SLPL, I don't think he is the right choice for captain though

Which Indian players are likely to be approached? Getting the likes of Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Rohit and Raina will be difficult, almost impossible, but they have a chance with both Pathans, RP Singh, Mishra, Munaf, Vinay Kumar and Ishant, most of whom are out of favour with the national selectors, and have also played a lot of T20, unlike most other Indian players.

Four overseas players is just too much, though. It won't do the local player base any good.

What will the pitches be like? Most Lankan pitches heavily favour the bowlers, like the new Ferozeshah Kotla pitch in Delhi, which has led to so many sub-20 averages, but we'd expect top Lankan players and overseas players to do well even in such conditions.

All these are southerners. So would play for Ruhuna under Sanath. Southerners have a special bond in SL, and tend to be regarded as the most aggressive lot from the country. BTW, Suraj Randiv also is from South.
Damn the southerners. I am supporting the East (or whatever team that Shahid Afridi is leading) unless Wahab Riaz is with the southerners

Very good list of overseas cricketers.Much better than i expected TBH.

I had virtually forgotten about Imran Nazir,Gibbs and Ntini.Would be great to see them in action. The only dissapointment for me is no Gul.He should be playing instead of that useless dick Sohail Tanvir.

Is Vaas playing btw?

Wouldn't like to see Ntini in action. The guy has lost so much fitness. Looked terrible in his last T20 against India

Tamim to Miss SLPL

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal is set to miss his opportunity to play in the upcoming Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL).

SLPL, which is scheduled for July 20 to August 4, will overlap Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe and the opener will be on duty for the national side.

“I was interested to participate in the SLPL but I will be busy training with the national team during that time. Not only for me but I think for every player, national duty comes first. So, I have no regret whatsoever that I won’t be able to make it for the SLPL,” said Tamim who is currently passing his holidays in Chittagong with his family and friends.

Tamim signed a contract with the Somerset Entertainment Ventures, a Singapore-based company who are handling the SLPL management. The contract was reached during the World Cup but any contact is yet to be made by any SLPL side.

Too many Indian players, for my liking.
The more Indians play T20, the better. They're not wanted by other leagues, the BCCI won't let interested leagues take them, and even the IPL franchises sideline them. This reflects in the lack of T20 experience, and consequently, lack of T20 readiness and lack of frontline action in the IPL itself. These players will benefit hugely, as the BCCI won't let them play elsewhere, nor will other leagues (how often do we see NZ teams bid for Indian players?) want them. Then again, I don't expect Munaf, Ashwin or Praveen to get a game, Jadeja and Umesh Yadav are poor choices, and the choice of Pandey and the Tiwarys is a gamble.

I don't know how reliable and credible that source is and I suspect it's a load of bull****. The article on cricinfo and other sites said it was something to do with seperate contracts being issued by the Singapore based private company rather than the Sri Lankan Board.

Why does the BCCI have a problem if the SLPL teams aren't owned by SLC? The IPL franchises are owned by private parties.
