Irfan Pathan bowled Sachin Tendulkar?

**** off. The IPL just lost all credibility
I know there is a hint of tongue-in-cheek there but he has been looking pretty damn good in the last few games. He has really been swinging the new ball.

Haha, I switched on the IPL to kill a few minutes before going out earlier today and there was a 'Are NZers nicer people than the Aussies?' poll or something to that effect. Lol'd hard.

or was it players and not people?

The important thing is the result. 81% said yes.:p

Back from the IPL game, my first and probably last. It was actually a fun experience but very, very loud. Watching Malinga was probably the best part not least because fast bowling is one of the few things which are better seen in a stadium. I hadn't quite realized what a superstar Malinga has become in Mumbai. Hundreds of fans were wearing Malinga wigs and there was a roar every time he bowled. That first maiden over was the highlight of the game for me and one of my great cricket stadium experiences. Silentstiker may not believe it but bowlers do matter in the IPL.

Anyway being in the stadium brought home to me how well the IPL has connected with Indian kids and teenagers. Hopefully some of them will eventually appreciate test cricket but whether we like it or not the IPL is here to stay.

thx dissector. most of the matches have been sell outs and continu to be regardless of dire situation of some teams and the sheer no. of matches. I have seen very premature observations that ipl is dying just by quoting some trp ratings, which is hardly the best indicator of how big it is.

cricinfo's been tracking trps and they seem to have an agenda agnst sonymax. they have been proclaiming trp ratings have plunged

Indian Premier League 2011: TV ratings plunge, but viewership rises | Cricket News | Indian Premier League 2011 | ESPN Cricinfo

but if you read the fine print, the no. of ipl viewers have exceeded already the nos who watched the entire ipl last time! also the report acknowledged ticket sales are booming. the ratings cover just 6 established markets, and completely ignores how increased no. of teams spread and dilute viewership.

eg: many of my malayali friends who earlier used to support csk or rcb, have switched loyalties and in droves started supporting tuskers. they cant now arse themselves to watch all games of their prev teams. so obv this means the avg rcb match would suffer a trp downage but easily makes it up in the longer run.

Incidentally the road leading up to the Wankhede was full of enterprising hawkers selling Mumbai Indians stuff: flags, horns and of course Malgina wigs. The security to get inside was insane and I was frisked 4-5 times. I can only imagine what it was like for the World Cup final. There was one group of spectators who didn't have to go through this however: the residents of a next-door building who watched the game from their terrace. Those lucky people would have managed to watch the World Cup final as well.

As you would expect, the seats, toilets and eating facilities are quite a lot better in the new stadium than the old and the Wankhede looks much nicer as well with better signage and a coherent visual design. Watching it erupt with a sea of blue MI flags was quite the sight. If any of you are going to an IPL game for the first time I would recommend buying a flag; it's a lot more fun if you have something to wave. I would also recommend a pair of earplugs. Finally, watching the players practice is fun so get there an hour early.

Spring green uniforms for the Royal Challengers today. Three players read the Green Pledge before the game. Fresh relief, as the kits looked a little too similar for some time.

Again Gayle is smashing it to all parts.

Poor Parmeswaran.

37 runs of his over by Gayle.
This has to be some kind of record.
