Enjoyed VS's batting much
Was it pure awesomeness from Sehwag or was there some notable lameness from opposition?

Apart from 2 dropped chances, it was sheer awesomeness of Sehwag. See how others fared. Styen, Ishant and Christian each looked dangerous when Sehwag was not facing them.

Got to love Sehwag's strokeplay. Purest form of delight. Neither the savagery of Dhoni like power hitting, nor the overly bookish Dravid like technique. Best exhibition of "see the ball, hit the ball" philosophy.

Well I hope Darren Lehman is kicking himself for not picking duminy over whit e he could've won quite a few more matches and possibly made the semi final?

Until yesterday Duminy was a complete waste of space and didn't look capable of getting the ball off the square let alone hitting a six. Not really been following the IPL closely but it seems like in comparison to previous editions the overseas players are struggling more either through not giving a ****, fatigue or in the case of a lot of them, not being good enough. Sure some kid in Maharashtra's U12 side would be of more use then Graeme Smith while the likes of Davey Jacobs are just wasting valuable overseas slots, namely depraving Ray Price the deserved opportunity to play.

much as I want ray price playing, not sure he's good enough to make the mi playing xi atm. perhaps a way to accomodate him will be to drop blizzard, promote suman to opening and play him but thats diluting their batting a bit.

while initially I thought it was lagging behind in terms of quality, I think ipl 4 has notches itself up one scale during last week or two.

and the jam packed crowds at hyd and kochi, despite not being established test centres is encouraging tstl.

Sehwag is devastating when he gets going.. already played 3 brilliant knocks in this IPL. Call him an FTB or whatever you like, but his talent for hitting boundaries is simply unmatched in his generation of batsmen.

The last knock he played was anything but a flat deck against Kochi.

Ball was bouncing about 2 inches in total sometimes.

Sure Blizzard isn't any better than a domestic player while Mumbai could do with one more banker bowler. Malinga and Bhaji is currently it, Munaf is too up and down while you don't want 4 overs from Pollard if you can help it. Price is definitely good enough. Proved that in the WC.

disagree, its been a combo of everything. the day ishant took a fifer was as good a fast bowling deck as u can get. there was that blast outta past spindeck at jaipur. then there have been the odd batting paradises, but no denying the indians have adapted more than foreigners, except bowlers of course.... steyn has been remarkable, warne has been largely brilliant, morkel overall good, etc

Steyn hasn't been that good ITBT. Four overs on a flat deck with cards stacked in the batsman's favour is nowhere near enough for him to exhibit his class anyway. Hope he saves his mojo for Tests.

Pollard should get a bigger role in the team. Maybe open the batting with Tendulkar, or come in at three or four. He should get four overs, and though his bowling looks a little shaky, he's had impressive stats over his career, almost like a strike bowler, and far better than those other filler bowlers (you know, Sathish, Rohit Sharma, even Roy) who get the ball for Mumbai, and better than a few full bowlers as well. The top four of Sachin, Pollard, Symonds and Sharma can be quite powerful, especially with support from Rayudu and Suman.

I don't know how Ray Price can make a difference to the Mumbai side, but Dilhara Fernando has an impressive strike rate and should do good for the team, as you'll have a fuller bowling lineup- Malinga, Dilhara, Munaf, Pollard and Harbhajan.

Domestic 20/20 ER is 6.15, in internationals 4.68 and he was economically the best opener bowler in the WC. Think Mumbai could do with that...

Less said about Pollard opening the better. He can hardly lay bat on the likes of Steyn with an old ball during the slog, he would be owned. With the ball he is pie merchant. Really a very poor man's Andrew Symonds with bat and ball.

Mumbai aren't using their batting resources smartly. They leave Andrew Symonds and Pollard with too much to do in too little time.

1) Suman
2) Tendulkar
3) Rayadu
4) Sharma
5) Pollard
6) Symonds

That really should be their top six. You can't bat Pollard and Symonds lower than that.

Rayudu should just open. He invariably ends up doing so anyways. Unless Suman is comfortable opening, Rayudu should at least try it out.
