I can't think of a better day in the history of the game, either.

Possibly 4-1 at Torquay, or holding United, but today's right up there. I got so excited I locked myself out of my flat.

Yeah, Torquay, Oxford, Cambridge, United were all big parts in our history, yet it was all there to show that we weren't flotsam in west-country football, today showed we're the best team, from being the worst team. it's the completion.

I love Tisdale, taken us from the worst to the best,.

Rather surprised by the level of joy this has caused, but I never did understand you northern folk. There's no doubt that Exeter are now number 1 in Devon but that's not been in doubt for several weeks. There's also no doubt that Mr Tisdale deserves great credit for taking a club from non league football and the brink of extinction up two divisions. However, most of the "credit" for Exeter's giddy heights must go to Stapleton and the buffoons who'se mismanagement have sent the Greens tumbling. It's not so much a case of the Reds rising to the top, it's more a case of the Greens sinking to the bottom. It's actually more of a git being in a lower division that Yeovil for the first time ever.

PS Where the hell is Stevenage?

Sorry, LT, old chap, but I've never pretended that finishing above you lot isn't my everything. If you wish to talk it down, no problem for me, it's still my ultimate, beating you ****s is my life. All these years has made it all the more joyous, play the insouciance card all you like, I don't give a ****.

Typical season from Colchester. Great first half of the season, terrible 2nd half of the season ending in mid-table obscurity. I'm hoping that Dagenham can steal a point or two and send Walsall down. The Daggers were written off to prop up the table at the start of the season, but they've performed well ahead of that.

Also, I still hope Bournemouth get play-off promotion. Would be a great story for a club who's been on the verge of bankruptcy for about 10 years to get in to the Championship.

Meh, if you hadn't paid of the ref when we went there, weds be going for promotion.

Haha. I'm not going to argue with you as, to be perfectly frank, the only coverage of League One I get down here is reading the BBC match reports; who usually sit on the fence. I doubt you are entirely disinterested, but having not seen any of the match or highlights myself, who am I to argue?

I'm not knocking it. Whatever lights your candle is your tickle - I was just surprised that such a minor achievement could cause such unconfined joy. Probably if our footballing paths had crossed more since I joined the forum I would have been less surprised.

Been a supporter of City since 76, you are always my nemesis, as you have said yourself, your fans sang we'd never play you again. Hate you lot, hate everything about you, the fact you blather on about being a big team, whilst your just hopeless, well now we're the big team, and we're slightly less hopeless.

I've followed the Greens since 1969. In 1977 when we were relegated from Division Two and Exeter were promoted from Division Four the City fans were shown lining the streets of Exeter and their main celebratory song was "City Up Argyle Down" (to the tune of "can you here >insert any team> sing". It's just what fans do. I'm quite happy to rub their noses in it when we win and take it on the chin when it's vice versa but being ahead or below Exeter in the pyriamid doesn't make or break my footballing experience.

Haha, I'm not sure if we had a season bet this year Martyn, but if we did no ones a winner. I've just noticed we finished on the same points, same goal difference and same goals scored. I presume we finished above you on alphabetical because you had more wins than us.

Norwood's on Fire
Haha, I couldn't remember if nwe'd had a bet either but was keeping it quiet given you were about 14 points ahead of us at one point. Wtf happened?!

Crazy to finish dead level though

Football League Regulation #9 says:

9 Method of Determining League Positions

9.1 At the end of each Season the Club in each Division scoring the highest number of points shall be declared the Champion Club of that Division. Three points shall be awarded for each League Match won. One point will be awarded to each Club for a drawn match. If two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points their position in the Division shall be determined on goal difference, that is to say, the difference between the total number of goals scored by and against a Club in League Matches in that Season, and the higher or highest placed Club shall be the Club with the larger or largest goal difference. If any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points and have the same goal difference the higher or highest placed Club shall be the Club having scored the most goals in League Matches in that Season.

9.2 If two or more Clubs have the same number of points, goal difference and goals scored the highest placed Club shall be determined by the respective League records against each other, taking into account in order of precedence, points gained, goal difference and goals scored. If the above procedures do not separate the Clubs, then the Clubs concerned shall play off a deciding League Match or Matches under arrangements approved by the Board on a neutral ground. The net gate money after deducting the usual match expenses shall be equally divided between the two competing Clubs. Any Club staging such a play off match shall be entitled to charge as an expense against the receipts of the match 10% of the gross gate receipts after deduction of Value Added Tax. In the event of such a match being arranged by the Board to be played on the ground of a Club which is not a member of The League, then a similar charge as an expense against the receipts of the match shall be paid to The League who shall otherwise be responsible for the financial arrangements made with the Club staging the match. These provisions shall determine the ranking of Clubs in their respective Division.
