I think he's in the same boat as Punter. Neither of them are going to be flash against really quick bowling, the reflexes have slowed down too much. After India's last tour of West Indies in 2006, Dravid has played well in only 3 series...
1.India's tour of NZ (2009)
2.Sri Lanka's Tour of India (2009)
3.NZ Tour of India (2010)
Interestingly None of the teams featured Great Fast Bowlers...
Think you might need him in England. If it was a choice between, say, him and Badrinath I'd be tempted, but given the spare batsman in your squad will likely be Raina I'd be very wary about dropping him now.
The South Africa series was supposed to be before that. The England series has to be his final hurrah IMO.Give him the chance to shine,if he does,he can play on.If he doesn't,bring in Kohli.
I'd be dissapointed if he has a poor tour of England TBH.Sad to see him fade away at the place he first rised. Also, the thought of not seeing a textbook player like Dravid in International Cricket in the future is a rather depressing thought. His type have becomer rarer by the year, and i daresay, will become extinct in the future.
True. But the English bowling on this tour looks more threatening than it has done on our previous visits there.
Still dunno. Problem is he'll probably do well (unless Taylor and/or Edwards play) in the West Indies, but he struggles against strong attacks.
Another problem is that while his performances have been decent, they aren't that great either, whereas Laxman and Tendulkar have been brilliant in recent times. Think it might be time to think about blooding blokes like Pujara and Kohli, but Dravid may still have a role to play in England and Australia. How well did he do against South Africa?
awtaIf dravid succeeds in west indies send him to england.
Otherwise england or better west indies farewell tour.England series is too imp to carry people around sry to say.
If he fails in england tour he should drop to 5th spot there and let pujara go at 3.
I don't want to see dravid for the aussie tour[with mitchell johnson again doing the angling the ball away and dravid nicking thing] i want a batting line up
sehwag,gambhir,pujara,sachin,kohli,laxman,dhoni.
It was a great run but its at an end,we'll be thankful for the great memories from the wall.
AWTA. This IPL has made me a big time fan boy of Badri. That high elbow of his is so good to watch.I actually think Kohli will be better than Badrinath, but Badrinath's epic form cannot be ignored. And I am a massive Kohli fan.
that is, arguably, the reason why he is still in the team when others would have been dropped. from what i recollect, ganguly was in decent nick in the year or so he was 'encouraged' to retire. His unbelievable awesomeness from 2002-2006 seems to go unappreciated as well nowadays.
