English captaincy>indian captaincy?
That's a little harsh i think.More or less equal i think.

Really looked clueless against SA, I thought. Made some runs, but remember him getting a lesson at Centurion. Could barely lay bat on ball & scored about 5 off 50. Maybe it's given me an unfair impression. Can understand when people talk about Gambhir's weakness against steep bounce, though its exaggerated. But I don't understand this idea that he's weak against swing. Where has this come from?
That's bounce though.Really looked clueless against SA, I thought. Made some runs, but remember him getting a lesson at Centurion. Could barely lay bat on ball & scored about 5 off 50. Maybe it's given me an unfair impression.
I guess Morkel's height helped too.
The most curious aspect is that Sehwag is an opener today because of his performances in England. He was a lower middle order batsman who was asked to fill in as a make-shift opener on the tour to England. India had no opening batsmen at all; experiments with worthies like Deep Dasgupta opening the batting had failed miserably. Sehwag made 80+ in his first test as an opener, a century in his second, and has routinely opened for India ever since then.was curious about sehwag and his performances in england.
Played and missed a lot outside off too, or at least that's my memory. Classic fast bowler's gambit, in fact. Soften him up with a short one and get one to leave him afterwards. That's bounce though.
Still not sure about Tremlett's natural length in English Conditions though .It is shorter than Ideal for those conditions which is a major reason why he was not in the English setup till now.
Like Ishant Sharma ,Australian pitches were ideal for him and the gap between him and Sreesanth i Australia as a bowler would be very big for me ,but in England with Sreesanth being a pitch it up and Swing bowler(though erratic) the gap reduces significantly.
Two week avatar bet that the cumulative runs scored by the Indian openers > English openers?Big call. Sehwag's record against us is awful and Gambhir struggles when the ball darts around. In English conditions I'd say Strauss has the best technique to cope.
Yeah, done. Two week avatar bet that the cumulative runs scored by the Indian openers > English openers?
Make it a month and you're on.Two week avatar bet that the cumulative runs scored by the Indian openers > English openers?
extra bounce leads to play and misses too!!!Played and missed a lot outside off too, or at least that's my memory. Classic fast bowler's gambit, in fact. Soften him up with a short one and get one to leave him afterwards.
Zaheer isn't better than Anderson. And in English conditions? Give me a break. Anderson>everyone, at homeAs for ratings...Indian openers > English Openers. Indian middle order > English middle order. English captaincy > Indian captaincy. English fast bowling > Indian fast bowling (Zaheer > Anderson but Tremmlet and Broad way, way better than the rest of the Indian pace attack). English spin bowling = Indian spin bowling (well, Swann way better but effect is neutralized since he is bowling to better players of spin).
Overall, it's pretty even, with the difference being selection and obviously the home conditions.
Actually, anyone up for an avatar bet? I say Harbhajan ends up with a better bowling average than Swann.
Avatar bet? Fairly confident Zak will outbowl Jimmeh.Zaheer isn't better than Anderson. And in English conditions? Give me a break. Anderson>everyone, at home
Prob not.Zaheer isn't better than Anderson. And in English conditions? Give me a break. Anderson>everyone, at home
Average within an 8 wicket range IMO. Would be unfair to you if using average alone, if Zaheer took a 10-fer in the first game and injures himself, not playing the rest of the series. 8 wickets is a big enough range to cover for disparity in competition for wickets, I reckon.Yeah, go for it
How's it being decided? Average?
Yeah, I would make an argument that if you contextualize his Pakistan figures, He's been in the very good bracket at home rather than the ATG quality bracket like that number indicates but I cbf arguing right now.Jimmy averages 23 in England, the last 2 years, crazy good numbers.
I know what your saying with Pakistan and if it swings this summer like it did the last, we will be in for, some fun and games.Yeah, I would make an argument that if you contextualize his Pakistan figures, He's been in the very good bracket at home rather than the ATG quality bracket like that number indicates but I cbf arguing right now.
It's undebatable that he has been awesome though and will definitely cause problems for the Indian batting. If Sehwag doesn't respect him and chases everything outside off-stump against the new ball, He'll find it hard to get past single figures.
