Beyond his stellar Christ Martin-esque spells I really think he is a pretty ordinary bowler... ala typical Chris Martn. You take that back
Are you basing this off his IPL performanceBeyond his stellar Christ Martin-esque spells I really think he is a pretty ordinary bowler... ala typical Chris Martn.
Unlike Chris Martin however his spells seem to come a wee bit more often.
There's a line you don't cross, you know.Zaheer is rubbish.
Na I've always been quite anti-Zaheer. Basically the Indian Jimmy Anderson. Are you basing this off his IPL performance
You guys still lost and got whitewashedUnbeatable? Wow.
How did we get within one ball of beating them in a Test, and how come they didn't win the SA series?
Will be interested to see the conditions, tbh. If BB is right then Anderson etc may be pining for the Aussie conditions, which would be a grand irony. Doubt it though.
Yes but you can do the same analysis for England and it's clear that they're a damn good side on paper too.India have improved leaps and bounds since last time they toured here:
V Sehwag
G Gambhir
Both are much more accomplished openers than last time's openers.
R Dravid
Weak link, weakest link imho. Is clearly past his stuff, am not really sure he;'ll last the whole series tbh.
S Tendulkar
Has been godly since 2008. Can be expected to avg much better than last time's 37, Taufel or not.
VVS Laxman
Champ, in form, and in much better shape than last time.
6th batsman - most likely to be Pujara
Good time to bud this talented chap.
WK
MS Dhoni - Again in good form and a much rounded cricketer as compared to the 07 version anyways.
Bowlers
Harby Singh - Slightly overrated imho, I'd love if they did a left hand selection and took Amit Mishra but Harby's batting has come good leaps nad bounds in the last few years. Still a gun when it suits him.
Ishant Sharma - Kid still, but I believe on the responsive pitches of Eng he'll do a great job, is also coming off a substantial break and regardless of the scheduling of IPL he'll be still feeling relatively fresh.
Sreesanth - definitely should be in for the eng series. Remains mercurial as ever but like he showed in SA in glimpses can be absolutely unplayable in assisting conditions.
Zaheer - Brilliant man.
That XI looks unbeatable imho in paper. Wouldn't be surprised if India register their first away whitewash tbh.
England hadn't won here in my entire lifetime. You guys still lost and got whitewashed
SA series - We weren't top shape and again, it's one place we have traditionally managed to **** up every time in the past. England is one team we haven't lost a series to in a decade and half iirc.
Not in the class and league of the above though. Man for man they are still an inferior side to the Indian test XI.Yes but you can do the same analysis for England and it's clear that they're a damn good side on paper too.
England didn't have to face a World no.1 team though.England hadn't won here in my entire lifetime.
Not in the class and league of the above though. Man for man they are still an inferior side to the Indian test XI.
You are way, way underestimating England. And no way India are "unbeatable" or anything on paper, come on! Look at how much the attack relies on Zaheer's form and fitness.England didn't have to face a World no.1 team though.
Maybe you're looking and comparing their overall careers, but if you compare the players in English conditions in the recent past then they aren't really in different leagues imo. Swann>Harbhajan atm, and the English pace attack is good enough such that our best pacer might be the 3rd seamer for them. Not in the class and league of the above though. Man for man they are still an inferior side to the Indian test XI.
Basically what I wanted to say. Agree completely.Just pointing out that history is not always the best judge.
And man for man England's bowling attack - first pick and bench - blows India's into next week. India's batting is obviously stronger, but given the form of some of the English bats (I see Cook is still playing the game as if the bowlers are bowling in slow motion...)
Yes, God forbid people rate a side that hasn't lost a series in over two yearsIndia are no.1, have done it well against the likes of even SA, cant see them not dominating England, whoa re as always overhyped like their footy team
What is the smiley about? You are way, way underestimating England. And no way India are "unbeatable" or anything on paper, come on! Look at how much the attack relies on Zaheer's form and fitness.
Wow, that's news to me.What is the smiley about?
I do know they're reliant on Zak. All champ teams are reliant on one or two top class performers. What's so wrong with that?
And with a pissweak bowling lineup as they're reputed to be, India IS no.1 in tests and WC winner.
