He is the type of player who one innings looks great and is remembered for that by most fans but you have to remember the other 3 that atleast come along with that and how he had brain farts in those.
Funny you say that because the exact same thing can be said about Pathan. I'll make the the margin a little bigger for him though. He looks good once in 5 innings

But Looking good in Uthappa's case is usually a 20 ball 30.

Pathan atleast makes that innings count.

how exactly? Pathan hasn't done any better than 20 ball 30 for most of his career. Yes he's got 3 good scores over the past 6 months or so but that's because he came in earlier with enough overs to spare. And I've already stated that I would back Pathan (especially since he's better than Uthappa when it comes to spinners) if sent in around the 34/35th overs. But because on most occasions a situation like that won't occur (coming in around the 35th) I would back Uthappa since he's better coming in around the 45th or so. That's my point.

Not really in Tests, it isn't. Exactly where he stands in the pecking order (Badrinath, Pujara, etc.) is debatable.
Getting into the test team as a regular will be tougher than most think for Kohli.

Still has to iron out a few chinks like getting pass that 20/30 phase and also starting out against spin . Tries to play everything to the leg side sometimes, with which he struggled in the WC too.

He will most probably make it ,but can see him having a few blips on the way more than what he has done in his ODI career.

Contra, Yousuf hasn't played much more than thirty innings (haven't checked but it can't be much more than that). For a number seven to have scored two brutal hundreds this early in his career is nothing short of very good (and remember the circumstances in which those hundreds were scored). Nothing whatsoever against Uthappa, but let's not make it sound like Yousuf has had it easy.

Yeah, there are a few issues with his batting that need sorting out. I'm confident he'll make it though.

Mahela is a gun captain usually. Which is why his last two performances confuse me.

I'm sure he'll click with the bat soon. I just think captains are too obsessed with leaving their better bowlers for the last over when in T20s the match can be over (actually or basically) by then.
You have a point. The problem wouldn't even come up if the captain simply had two good bowlers who can keep it tight in the death. This seems a rarity these days.

I never said Yusuf had it easy. I just said he's had a consistent run in a particular position whereas Uthappa has not (he's been a floater his whole int career). And because of that you cannot fully judge Uthappa in that position. For the record those are the kind of circumstances you can score hundreds in. He's not gonna be scoring 100's coming in at 40+ overs. And I already said that Pathan > Uthappa if they are sent in earlier than usual. But that doesn't happen often and thus Uthappa > Pathan as a finisher.

Good to see Parnell snare out two high quality batsman first up. I like Pune, alongside the quality they have grafters. Smith's form would be a worry, should drop him when Manish Pandey becomes available and draft in Mitch Marsh or Ferguson.

I've read conflicting articles that imply he was considering giving up Tests but was waiting to see how he felt after the WC.
