Pattinson for either Doherty or Johnson imo. Lee doesn't deserve any breaks and Hastings is in good form.

Yep, agreed with the resting of Johnson. It's not like there's anything coming up that we need to keep him warm for.

It is interesting that Mitch Johnson is being used as an opening bowler again. He has never truly settled on a bowling position in the side despite being an automatic pick for the ODI team for a number of years now.

His record when he has opened the bowling is incredible. In the 22 games he has opened, Johnson has 55 wickets at an average of 17.52. The importance of Johnson to the side going forward is massive with Tait now retired, and Lee likely to follow in a season or two.

Think they're going to look back at that decision as a mistake. Siddons is an outstanding bloke and a winner so I'm surprised to see them turf him.

Not Terrible
He turned Bangladeshi cricket around tbh, even though they seem to desperately want to turn it back around themselves.

That said $9 seems slightly generous odds on this match for Bangers. Tamim is almost due runs IMO.

Hmmm, obviously Siddons has done some good for Bangladesh, but he's gotta take some responsibility for the cumulative results of West Indies, South Africa, and the recent Watson epic.

On top of that, surely Siddons would have had some say in regards to the way Bangladesh chased the Australian total in the first match?

It's not his fault, but what the hell is going on? These things aren't down to talent alone. There is an attitude issue, and that is relevant to coaching as well.

Siddons wasn't too happy about the chase I heard. Asked Shakib what it was all about and didn't appear too pleased with the answer. Indicates to me that the players might not really be listening to him in which case there isn't much he can do.

If that is the case (and it'd be sad if it is), then the players are ****s, but he has failed in his role as coach.

Shakib realllly shouldn't be captain.
This.
He has such a negative attitude. He and his team should be playing fearless cricket because they have nothing to lose, but instead they play more defensively than any other side in the world.

I agree they need a captain who'll hold them accountable. For too long they've been treated like a juniors team where even if they do horrible the coaching staff all pat them on the back and take them out for Mcdonalds after the game for their effort.
Their an international team, time to start acting like one and at least trying to compete. They've shown on occasions that they have the talent to compete and beat teams at this level so they shouldn't take backwards steps and have to admit and take responsibility when they play terrible.Shakib claimed it was impossible to chase 270 on the first pitch? BS Australia set that it can be chase. After the second game i think it was nafees who said it was a freak innings by watson and they played really well but had no chance when watto had his day? Wtf is that. Own up to the fact your bowlers bowled trash, you fielded terribly and you dropped catches. Sure Watson had an incredible innings but you obviously didn't play well if you let chances go down and didn't bowl well to him.

I like Bangladesh, their probably my second favorite team but i'm sick of them not even trying to progress. When they play well and win they go on about how improved and confident they are and how they can compete at this level, when they lose they take the weak option and say they played well but that it was impossible to win and act like their a domestic team playing a touring game against an international side so don't have to really do that well.

Hoping for a classy Ponting ton today, the signs are there. It's sad to see Siddons get turfed but entirely suprising. It seems just as Bangladesh were starting to make real progress as a side 6 months ago, there sliding backwards again. It's frustrating for everyone but I'd hate to be a BD fan as well.
