2015 World Cup: 10 teams and no associates

I'm actually surprised nobodies brought up an 8 team WC. Can't ever see the bottom two getting into the semis so there would go at least another 12 pointless matches.

Turnstyle makes a good point. Why stop there? The Windies have had no chance for 20 years, England fail to give one, and I'll marry a lamp-post before SA or NZ get past a semi final. May as well kick the rubbish out and just play with 4 teams.

Honestly, i'd be for either a 12+ or 8 team World Cup. At least we know it was done with the intentions of no 'dull' matches rather than in the best interests of its members.

Now that the WC is finally home, the tournament should be scrapped for eternity.

Seriously though, how cool would it be if ICC grants test status to Ireland as compensation?:p

Haha, that would be great.

But I'd still really feel the absence of the Irish contingent in the next World Cup. Would have loved to have seen seas of green in the crowd.

8 is a waste of time. 12 is better
8 is a waste of time. 12 is better. One is best. Wouldn't India love to be the WWF style (or is it the WWE? I disremember.) "undisputed" ODI champion of the world?

Oh, hold on for a sec. The ECB and CA are not going to agree to that. So how about rotating the WC title among the three vultures? 2015 - Australia, the "undisputed" World Champion, 2019 - England (Wales be damned), the "undisputed" World Champion and so forth?

That is not even remotely funny. Good try though

You know what grates me? They were thinking about this before the World Cup. Then Ireland beats England, and chasing down a HUGE total when all hope was lost at that, and they still go through with the decision.

Disgraceful.

Was there any game Ireland were comprehensively beaten in? Maybe Saffa, I don't remember.

Obviously they beat us, and Holland.

They ran Bangas close, and certainly gave India a scare. They would have beaten West Indies but were sawn off by atrocious misuse of UDRS (it was much worse than the Bell decision I read much bleating about).

They really did show they belonged, I$C$C can suck it

They were badly beaten by SA in the end but SA were right in the **** at one point, batting first and getting something like 130-5 after 30 before Duminy rescued them. I'd say only India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, SA and Ireland were competitive in every match.

Hey you know what might help Ireland turn those 'competitive' performances into wins?

More experience in major ODIs against top sides! More experience in big tournaments like the WC!

Or you know, we could just say, here, have some more Twenty20.

**** you ICC. **** you hard. International ****s Council.

Sadly there's not enough of a monetary incentive for the larger nations, particularly India, to do such a thing. India have yet to host Bangladesh in a home Test series ffs - there's more chance of me hitting the winning century in the 2015 final than there is of the richer nations hosting Ireland.

It's enormously frustrating that there is such a huge groundswell of support for Ireland yet it achieves nothing - we're spoilt by living in democracies - there must be plenty of folk round the globe who'll wonder what we're bleating about

Anyone noticed Uppercut has hardly been here since this happened?

The guy lives and breathes cricket, or he did. Could just be a coincidence but, well, that'd be a shame hey.
