AWTA, Laxman's best chance to score is when he opens or comes at no:3. No point in bringing him at 5 or 6 when you have to just slog. He simply isn't that kind of a player. Exactly what Warney did with Dravid. His best chance to score is when he gets more time at the crease. Coming at 5 or 6 will not suit these kind of players. Kochi does not have those flamboyant Indian players in the batting order which will be their downfall. They will always struggle to up the run rate once they lose their top international players. Jadeja and Gomez in the hitters role is laughable.
One change they could consider is pushing Parthiv Patel up to number four and having Brad Hodge bat at number five.

This whole thing where the teams have changed so much is very confusing to the casual watcher, I think. I was just getting used to who played for who, and today I switched on Deccan to find the only players I could remember that played for them, Gilchrist and Symonds, weren't there any more. And Vettori was playing for Bangalore, and last I remember that team had Steyn, who now apparently plays for Deccan. It was even confusing in the studio, because Mascarenhas wasn't supporting the Royals any more, because he was picked up by someone else, even though he's injured and has never played for them.

Maybe I just don't watch enough... but I was sooo confused!

Yeah, that's the worst thing about the auction they had this year. I suppose they had to do it to make it fair for the two new teams, but it still sucks. The one good thing is that a few teams like Mumbai and Chennai have managed to retain the core of their sides.

Those two are the teams to beat, as far as I can tell.

I'm glad the Royals kept Watto, because I can keep them as my team, and also that they still have botox-Warney there still because it means they still have a certain feel about them even though lots of players have changed.

You are a Shane Watson fan? I've been thinking all this while that you lost an avatar bet. :D

And yeah, Mumbai and Chennai are both likely to go all the way. Delhi and Banglaore also seem to have pretty decent sides on paper.

Guys who saw the Deccan game, how did Ishant go?
I thought he bowled reasonably well. His first two overs in particular were very good. Hopefully this translates into success in the Indian jersey too for him. I'm probably being too optimistic though. He'll be drained by the end of this thing and continue to bowl the same rubbish when he plays for India. Hope he proves me wrong.

EDIT: it will be interesting to see how Irfan Pathan goes tomorrow. Haven't watched him play for ages. If he shows some signs of form, then he's a definite contender for the number seven spot.

Yeah interested in seeing how Irfan goes. Still feel Ishant can do well for India.

Yes, a big Watto fan, love watching him play, good fun. :)

He got smashed second ball by Duminy for six IIRC but he completely dominated him after that. His action is such that he can probably be a good competitive international bowler even when he's in his low 40s, provided he makes an attempt to keep fit.

Don't know why people are billing these two teams as heavy weights, take out Sehwag, Tendulkar and Malinga and these two teams are nothing special/
