Shaun Tait quits cricket

Yeah but that's just **** bowling, not an obsession with bowling short. Tait's not exactly known for his pin-point accuracy when he has his tail up so if he's off his game, well, charitably, the batsmen will get some width to work with.

At his best, in amongst all the crap, he bowls the highest proportion of wicket-taking balls in a given over of any bowler I've certainly ever seen. Check this out, ING Cup final from a few years back;

14 wides! But 6/41 and almost bowled SA to a win in a game they had no business even making close (still :surprise: at the ball Jaques had to cope with). And that's not even his best bowling in a OD match;

EDIT: Speaking of, I hope Rob has footage of that game because word on the street is that JackTheMac was up on the hill at the time.
Awesome bowling. Agree with your point, but for all we know he might just be running in with no idea what he's about to deliver :laugh:

I don't know why good cricketers opt for short cricket terms. Coming from a player who can nail batsmen at 161.1kmph, it's devastating and sad for him to quit!
