I don't know how you can say that CA want Ponting gone, because if anything they have come out in recent times and backed him as the best man to lead Australia even after the worldcup. Why isn't Ponting seeing the writing on the wall? I think its obvious CA want him gone as captain. I'm truly shocked that he's defying it all. Unless he actually wants to be sacked rather than quit as he believes he'll have the public sentiment on his side?
whats wrong in trying out a change of personnel. surely it cant get worse than current state australian cricket is in.I don't know how you can say that CA want Ponting gone, because if anything they have come out in recent times and backed him as the best man to lead Australia even after the worldcup.
The problem with Australian cricket is that because results aren't going the way they are suppossed to therefore people just want to see changes taking place, but they obviously don't care whether there are any decent replacments available or not.
Now every Australian critic wants Ponting to quit captaincy but nobody is game enough to come out and say who should then replace him as captain, because the fact of the matter is there are hardly any real contenders around.
Clarke is barely clinging to his place in the side, Haddin at the age of 33 at best is a stop-gap arrangement and Watson is considered a bit immature to take over captaincy, so if you look at it there aren't any guys around who can actually take the reins of this side and turn things around.
ponting the cap has been walking on thin ice, they lost the ashes at home ffs, and now have been booted out of the wc, having beat just one test std team, nz, in it. surely if these arent strong reasons to withdraw him, what areAs if CA are going to come out publicly and not back their captain.
He belongs in the argument, from an Australian POV.The argument that there are no other captaincy contenders is fatous.
There is only one person at a time who can be captain, so unless someone else is given a go there will never be another contender.
Lets stick the traditional way, pick the team first then pick the captain from the team.
If Ponting makes the team on merit fair enough, but his form has been poor for a while now and he should have been dropped during the Ashes tests .
Why he doesn't he see the writing on wall ? The answer could be that he is surrounded by people who depend on him and therefore are continually telling him how great he is. Wife, family, manager, coach, selectors etc
Greatest batsman since Bradman ? Don't think so.

Yeah. So there's an argument. And Ponting belongs in it.Greg Chappell
I can stick my neck out and say that with the kind of players we have been picking no captain could have managed better results.ponting the cap has been walking on thin ice, they lost the ashes at home ffs, and now have been booted out of the wc, having beat just one test std team, nz, in it. surely if these arent strong reasons to withdraw him, what are
Because the players still want him.Why isn't Ponting seeing the writing on the wall? I think its obvious CA want him gone as captain. I'm truly shocked that he's defying it all. Unless he actually wants to be sacked rather than quit as he believes he'll have the public sentiment on his side?
Well maybe because they realise there is no-one better to lead the side atm.Yeah that makes sense. They idolise him from all reports.
Genuine question, when's the last time players have wanted the Australian captain gone?Because the players still want him.
