Ridley Jacobs biffed his way to 4000odd runs and legendary status with no technique.
Was very impressed with Russell though, has the makings of a proper lower order batsman a la Johnson IMO. Some very nice shots through the offside and also defended well against spin on a turning pitch.

If England goes to the quarters, they would be the ones mentally equipped to win the crunch games. Another thriller from them. Sammy finally has done something for WI in this WC. Would be better off playing this pinch hitter role.

Yeah, probably a bit harsh on Bell, but he'd been dropped from the ODI side for ages, had a good return against Bangladesh and an excellent domestic OD season, missed the Pakistan series through injury and has since done nothing of any real note. He's certainly lucky that we've had so many injury woes, as IMO he's not in the side on merit.
More than a bit harsh if you're putting KP ahead of him.

quite irresponsible from WI.........I feel for poor Sammy. He batted really well today
Bowled and captained like a drain tho. Should've applied the boot to the throat when we were six down. Instead he lost his nerve when Russell went for a few, brought Pollard and himself on and we got at least 30 more than we might've done had Bishoo and Russell had another over each.

I was only following on cricinfo but was quite surprised.

Also worth pointing out that WI will need to win if the Bangladesh-South Africa match is rained off or tied.

Agreed. If England make it through to the QFs they might make it all the way and win the cup.

Wouldn't say this makes them any better equipped than anyone else to win a knockout game. Sure they've had five close games, but they lost two of them from dominant positions.
