I've disputed it: telling someone who's making **** posts that they're making **** posts isn't insulting.

And I'm sorry, Fusion's excuses about human fallability don't wash either. Under a codified system such as this, you should be striving for as much consistency as possible: it's a complete nonsense that the same 'offence' that's been committed by 2 different posters has resulted in 2 different punishments. I'm already on a shorter leash because any further infractions I pick up for insulting other members are automatically longer in duration. Putting me on a short leash and giving me points for offences other posters are getting warned for is an unacceptable double standard.

Wtf, saying someone's post is crap is against the rules? What a joke. Heaven forbid we have an opinion.

Dead set shocked the same arguments are occurring again in this thread.

Hit the ignore button and move on.

Tbh Fusion I think if you read a few posts you'll see both me and GF have an issue with the fact you can't call someone's posts rubbish, given that we're always told to play the post not the poster.

And yeah it's a small issue but it amuses me to see the mod team finding all mother of excuses for such an inconsistency. The decent thing would have been to downgrade his infraction once the inconsistency was highlighted; I pointed it out politely in the match thread.

And I'll argue until my face turns blue that the 'mean person' post I was warned for broke no rules and I received no adequate argument to the contrary - just a nonsense response from Cribb, and a few emails from fos that were polite enough but as soon as I countered her points I got nothing back. So it's all well and good saying 'if you don't break the rules' but it'd also be simple if you lot stopped warning people for not breaking rules then there'd be less discussion around infractions in general.

And to repeat, I don't believe telling someone their posts are **** constitutes a personal insult but whatever
There's a difference between playing the post and playing all someone's posts at once. When you do the latter, you're effectively playing the poster.

You can call a post ****, because you can't tell someone that all their posts are ****.

If you think someone's a ****, it doesn't mean that you can go around calling them a ****. Same goes here.

If you genuinely think all of someone's posts are ****, yet continue to quote them and reply to them almost every time, you have to wonder what exactly you're getting out of coming to CW then.

And it's not half the forum no matter what people like to believe. It's a few trolls and/or repeat offenders. Press ignore or if you don't like doing that, have some self-control and don't bite. Because it seriously derails the thread.

I kept biting with Dhoni Fan for the first two matches and then I pulled the pin, because every match thread would degenerate into people saying "no stop being arrogant" and he reply with "i'm not arrogant, but *insert arrogant comment*

Bravo you then, Jono! [facetious comment as the Ignore function is largely pointless as you still see other people's quoting the ignored]

Besides, Repeat Offenders won't last on the forum long because their ever lengthening infractions will never have a chance to expire.

Bit harsh I feel.

But the point is that if most people ignored the troll, you'd barely see his posts. Despite some people quoting Dhoni Fan and yelling at him, for the most part the last few match threads have been awesome. I did not have to deal with one Dhoni Fan post in the Ind vs. SA thread during the match.

But hey if people get kicks from replying and abusing him and then coming to this thread to complain about the infractions they receive as a result, go right ahead.

Why do people take it so personally when someone bags out their cricket team?
