I think it's also worth pointing out here that it is possible to put someone on ignore if you find their posting particularly annoying. Then, as long as everyone else isn't reacting to them constantly, it should help you enjoy the forum more.

Yes, f_o_s, Thank you, will do that. It definitely helps with the other threads but my main issue with his posting in the match thread is him making an offensive comment and the entire discussion in the thread turning into a criticism of his posting and hence not only detracting the discussion from the cricket going on but also creating an unfriendly atmosphere in the thread. Don't think ignoring him would help that much in that context.

When multiple people are openly stating they are putting a poster on ignore though, then that shouldn't be the answer. Plus other people will quote them.

The thing about reporting posts is that with a troll the offence is usually caused through accumulation than individual posts. When you've had pissy emails from the mod team about your use of the report button then you're gonna think twice about reporting these sorts of guys. If that makes sense.

I do acknowledge both as legit options but really, if someone is riling everyone up, who cares about their intent? When you got Furball's intent wrong with the post he was infracted for anyway?

Dhoni_fan has made enough **** troll posts to have had 3 infractions. He should be sitting some time out.

So just wanted to ask, Where do we draw the line in such cases ? How do we define what is annoying and what is not ? To me, it seems more like Who is saying it rather than what is being said. In the same thread (India Vs. Neatherland) there was a poll and 7 people voted for an India win and 10 voted for a Netherlands win. It is very obvious that some (not all) of the members who voted for Netherlands win, did not really think that Neatherlands would win, IMO they just wanted to annoy certain members as well.

Also while this is not an attemot to defend "Dhoni_fan" but was he the one who really started this ? Unless some posts in the thread were deleted, here is what looks like started it.

Netherlands just have to turn up, really.

As long as the Netherlands get on the right bus to the ground I imagine this should be a walk on an escalator.

And no I do not want anyone getting infraction points for stating an opinion, however absurd it may sound. But unfortunately you and some other folks on this forum seem to have different standard for yourself and different for some Indian fans.
