Haha, it's amazing. They should be the best - or very close to - when they get it right, but they haven't. Anderson's two magic balls, though...
Need to sort out what to do with Yardy though, injure him and call up Rashid i say.

Why exactly was Broad taken off after 4 overs? And when is Swann supposed to bowl his remaining three?

Does Strauss seriously think this one will go the distance and he's saving Broad and Swann for the last 10? Even my five-year old daughter's worked out that we need wickets now, not in 15 overs time, if this is going to be any sort of contest.
Straussy. Broady

:p

What a fantastic game. England have somehow won this despite the most terrible of batting, a reliance on Michael Yardy, a captain who has implemented tactics that would make Dhoni blush and an entire England lineup coming off the most demoralising of losses.

Great stuff.
Haha, and you'd have to say SA have mucked this up massively too. Post ABdV the batsman has been the primary culprit in succumbing to what England have done best throughout the summer - pressure bowling.

You can say what you like about this English ODI side, but you can't deny we're good to watch.

We just don't do dull games...

Top, top, top of the group (!)

No, we don't like to make things easy for us,at all. If this keep up I'll have gone grey by the end of it.

Yup, that's it. Carrying the tournament, us.

To paraphrase a purple faced denizen of hell: cricket; bloody hell.

Can't defend 327 against Ireland, bowl out SA for less than 171.

I thought that Strauss actually captained in the field pretty well this game. Starting with Yardy was worth a gamble, though he probably should've come off after his second over, and he rotated his bowler well throughout and was quite aggressive in his field settings.

That game was bigger than just one game. England will now probably finish at the top of their group, which means they'll have an easier time in the next round. They'll make it to the quarters! If they win the World Cup after playing so poorly, it'll come back to that game.

Hey Australia were awful at the beginning of the 1999 World Cup and they won. England can win this World Cup. Their chances have changed so much on account of this one game.

Yet another choke from the Proteas. How embarrassing must it be to be a Protea fan.

Bowling KP and Yardy for so long at the end was criminal though.
