Latest announcement just confuses me more.

So, yesterday, when I said Wiseman > Heal - mainly just to get a minor reaction for Nnanden, should I have been infracted?

Obviously notwithstanding the original observation that Wiseman > Heal.

2 issues:

1. The email notification system James promised doesn't work.
2. Nothing shows up on the homepage to indicate an infraction

What do you mean by email notification system? We have an ongoing problem at the moment that if a user has 'receive email from moderators' to 'no' then when we give a warning/infraction then it is not possible for us to enter a full explanation, and I think there is no email sent.

If you get an infraction, you can see it on a tab on your user profile next to 'statistics'.

Doesn't really seem like the 'you're a ****' rule is being enforced, not that I'm complaining. Seen mods reply to such posts plenty of times without making mention of the apparent breach, so my guess is that it's currently only being enforced if the post is reported (which is relatively sensible). Seems contrary to the strict approach indicated in the first post of this thread though, so some clarification is needed.

If this system is going to work, then it needs to be more transparent.

There's been a few warnings/infractions handed out to people that seem to me to be a little questionable, and without knowing where else infractions have been handed out, the system seems to be completely one-sided.

There was loads of trolling directed at England in the recent thread. Unless the system is made more transparent and everyone can see what warnings and infractions were handed out, the perception that there is bias towards a certain group of fans will continue, to the detriment of the forum atmosphere.

Haha, it's almost as if you and I hadn't already pointed this out for these very reasons. Maybe we'll now be infracted for repetitive posting.

I'd like some clarification.

I think we all now know that the forum has decided to define buffoon as an insult even though the english language doesn't. Fine.

Why then when a member expressed offence at certain posts during the Eng-Ind game was he told that different people find different things offensive and basically to suck it up.

Surely this is a huge inconsistency? Help?

Yeah, I also found it quite strange that the mod team found it within themselves to be able to decide what people should and shouldn't find offensive. As far as I'm concerned whether or not you find something offensive is down to you.
If somebody finds a post worthy of reporting that it deserves equal treatment and consideration as other more explicit posts (pending they're reported by the same number of people obviously).
At the end of the day it's at the discretion of the moderation team but if somebody finds something offensive there's no way on earth you can tell them to get over it one minute and then make a huge deal out of something equally trivial the next.

Sorry, but infracting people for use of the word "buffoon" and justifying it with "you might not think it's offensive, but other people do" then responding to complaints about trolling with "just because you found it offensive doesn't make it so" is complete bull****.
