All of them SL as minnows.
Er.. how? In a different group, they can't both knock India out.I think both of them will beat India this time.
Why would you not pick Murali? Even if he doesn't pick up wickets, he won't concede more than 40 runs. Pakistan batsmen (bar Misbah/Younis) aren't good at working him into the gaps like India, they'll either slog the spinners or get out. Is Herath's record against Pakistan that good? I'm not sure, but I'd definitely back Murali to make an impact in this game.SL has to pack up some pace in the bowling. I'd drop both Tharanga, Murali and Mendis and bring in Silva, Fernando and Herath.
My line up would be: MJ, Dilshan, Sangakkara, Samaraweera, Silva, Mathews, Perera, Kulasekara, Herath, Malinga, Fernando.
Pakistanis know Murali in and out. The one they find mysterious is Herath. Fernando has been doing well lately, and his venomous pace will be useful against players like Akmals and Afridis.
You mean one of them could'nt beat India..Srilanka have more chances to win against pakistan. But one of them can't beat india.
I don't think Murali can be left out of any game. This has more to do with Herath's inexperience at the ODI game, than Murali. If it was down to Murali or Mends, then i might go for Mendis, but if it's a question between Herath and Murali, then the king should play.No question.SL has to pack up some pace in the bowling. I'd drop both Tharanga, Murali and Mendis and bring in Silva, Fernando and Herath.

Really good team, with the likes of Mendis sitting in reserve.Murali has to play. He may or may not get wickets but he's definately not going to go for a pile of runs.
Dropping Mendis seems reasonable, largely because if Sri Lanka back themselves and play their best seamers they have the best ODI attack in the world. Matthews and Samaraweera make a better 5th bowler than most sides. Dilshan's there too.
Tharanga's done nothing wrong. He's a proven international batsman. If Mahela doesn't want to open then so be it. I'm backing the guy with the ODI centuries behind him. I'd rather see Chandimal in there but that's not happening. The only one I think really deserves dropping is Kapu.
Tharanga, Dilshan, Sangakkara, Jayawardena, Samaraweera, Silva, Matthews, Perera, Kulasekera, Murali, Malinga.
You are only saying that because he is in our draft team.Murali has to play. He may or may not get wickets but he's definately not going to go for a pile of runs.

Yeah, I agree. It makes no sense to play three or four spinners against a side like Sri Lanka.I think I'd rather see Wahab playing than Ajmal or Rehman. I know the pitch is likely to be slow but Pakistan ought to play to their strengths. Afridi is bowling well right now and will likely bowl his full 10, and Hafeez is still there as the second spinner.
Nah, Mendis has no chance, and he's probaly the 4th in the pecking order. Murali is good, but Herath is in form. I'd take that risk to play the in form bowler than the greater bowler.I don't think Murali can be left out of any game. This has more to do with Herath's inexperience at the ODI game, than Murali. If it was down to Murali or Mends, then i might go for Mendis, but if it's a question between Herath and Murali, then the king should play.No question.
Mark my words, it's going to be Perera who's going to be the biggest problem. Pakistani's are good against reverse swing, hence should be able to handle Malinga better. Kulasekara has been out of form in last year. Unless he regains that form would only keep it tight.Malinga and kulesekara are the ones who are going to cause problems for Pakistan. We generally play murali well and I think that it was us who figured mendis out.
Herath has played all of 11 ODIs in his career. What exactly are you basing his form on?Nah, Mendis has no chance, and he's probaly the 4th in the pecking order. Murali is good, but Herath is in form. I'd take that risk to play the in form bowler than the greater bowler.
Tharanga has been getting stuck in the powerplay time and time again, and kills the momentum. He cannot play big shots and couldn't rotate the strike too. On the other hand Mahela is Willing to open the innings.Murali has to play. He may or may not get wickets but he's definately not going to go for a pile of runs.
