GOOD:

benaud- need i say more?

david Lloyd and hussein - LOVE nasser!

shastri – entertaining, honest and incisive. no bias, as can be evidenced by that magnificent afridi 100 against india maybe 4 years ago. Indian crowd was so stunned that you could probably hear shastris (rightfully) excited voice all over the ground. just remember "THE PATHAN IS ON FIRE! BOOM BOOM AFRIDI" - infact (correct me if i'm wrong) i think that's how afridi got that nickname

gavaskar- shows a lot of knowledge aobut Indian cricket, and rightfully commends them when they do well, but gives others their due

healy- i think thissummer he’s been hilarious regarding his honesty about how **** aus are. He was almost like a man of the people. While the other blokes would talk **** trying to cover up how pathetic aus were playing, healy said what everyone else at home was thinking.

Warne- good cricketing knowledge, and entertaining.

Greig- need i say more? Always entertaining

Ramiz- love him. Can see his passion (And subsequent heartbreak) for Pakistan cricket, but always honest and balanced. A man with alot of pride and integrity, despite the foolery that his team engages in that he has to commentate on

Ian chappell – simply wonderful cricket brain. So so insightful

BAD:

ian smith- fat old whinger

danny morrison – overexcited idiot

shivaramakrisnan- most bias little tool i’ve ever heard.

Manjrekar- the only entertaining thing i’ve ever heard him say was when he was caught making that “have you ever fake orgasm? You can do it if wearing a condom” comment

James brayshaw- pathetic. No knowledge of the game.

Botham- another fat whinger. always seems to belittle anyone not english, especially indians/pakistanis/lankans. Proof that just because you were great at your craft, doesn’t mean peopleshould let you air your views. IE mel Gibson

Mike haysman-boring as hell. A noob

Slater- states the obvious, and says nothing incisive. After his blow up during his career, too intent on being mr passive, happy go lucky

Nicholas- good for mid innings discussions but not the actual game. Too delighted by cricket, not enough nitty gritty.

Harsha- annoying skinny turd who talks so much crap. So delighted by the game yet has never played in his life, but thinks he’s an expert. Epitome of the Indian cricket tragic.

All srilankan commentators justsuck.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Most former greats who end up as commentators. They dont get excited about sixes or fours and behave as if it is piece of cake for them, as they themselves were former players. Everybody knows these guys are players, they are now commentators, they are to show some excitement.
Tony Creig, Ravi Shastri, Ian Botham, Lakshman Siva RamaKrishnana, Manjrekar are some of my favs and they show some excitement in their commentary...

I'm jealous, you got a different commentary feed to me. I got the one where Healy was the biggest biased **** in the whole C9 box, which is definitely saying something.

Biggest example was in one of the Tests England was miles and miles ahead..and Ian suggested if they lost 6 wickets in 6 balls, we'd have a different story on our hands. Now you may say he was joking, but those sort of comments came along a fair bit. Plus I always rememer the story of Mark Taylor saying in all the years he fielded at 1st slip next to Healy, he never heard one suggestion that was near plausible.

His overwhelming love of the Australian cricket team is nothing short of pathetic, best evidenced by his lauding of the awesome brilliant magnificent Glenn McGrath at Lord's in 2005, when he was simply bowling good length balls that were impossible to play because the pitch was crap and they didnt bounce. A proper commentator would have pointed out how lucky McGrath was, but I guess Nicholas was too busy rubbing his **** to notice.
This tends to suggest you wouldn't make much of an analyst either...

mate he LAMBASTED australia. Ie the way they were batting, not scoring quickly enough. Saying how toothless their attack was. Fielding, organization, over rates.

at times chappelli and greigy jokingly had to calm him down, they were like "heals you're way too young to be a cynic" because he was saying all this 'in my day' stuff.
Which i liked, as he himslef was such a meticulous preparer.
Good to see these old guys calling out the weaklings in the current team.

Admittedly before this summer i agree with what you said, he was biased and overexcited by aus, but i think this summer, what i heard, was refreshing

Healey's bias can be summed up in one ball. The first one of the ashes this time, where they appealed for LBW on Strauss. The review got turned down too.

"OH THAT'S OUT!!!!"

Was watching the match with Hindi commentary today, thought it would be horrible, but the commentators know their ****. You just have to get over the overexcited old-school "aur yeh chaar run!!!" screams.

Surprised that nobody so far has mentioned Pommie Mbangwa. Not a great commentator, but personally I like him for his enthusiasm.

Oh yeah, he's alright. His commentary in the fifth match of the India-South Africa ODI series was entertaining.

Liked listening to Alan Wilkins. Haven't seen him around for some time though - is he still active?

Also Gavaskar - he isn't always objective but I find him interesting. Can't stand Shastri however.

Thought Nasser Hussain was excellent in the England-Ireland match. I don't typically listen to Sky but credit where it's due.

Interesting to see Danny Morrison's name mentioned amongst the worst commentators in several posts. Hes been the 'expert analyst' alongside Bryan Waddle for our radio commentary of today's NZ vs Zimbabwe match and been excellent as a combination with Waddle. Not the first time hes done radio commentary and I've found him good on most of the other occasions. I think the same goes for Harsha Bhogle who I'm not a huge fan of on television commentary but think is generally very good on radio.

You can't not like Lloyd. Ramiz is a prick. I hate Nasser over rating England players aswell. But otherwise Lloyd and Holding. The New Zealand v Pakistan commentary was class.

I hope nobody else in the world has to put up with Pommie Mbangwa.. Sure he's a nice chap, but Mr stating the freaking obvious.. I guess they have to dumb down to an extent on TV now..
