In 90's I would rank them in this order,
Waqar, Ambrose, Donald, Wasim, McGrath, Warne, Murali, Pollock, Walsh.

In the 90s, Waqar had a wpm of 5 or almost 5 iirc and a SR much lower than the other ATG bowlers. I'd have Waqar and Donald as the best two fast bowlers of the 90s tbh.Waqar above Ambrose and Wasim??? Reason??
His SR was lower but his average and econ rate were both higher. He could be quite expensive too. Also factor in that other teams in the 90s had pretty decent bowling attacks who didn't leak too many runs so Waqar can become a liability. In the 90s, Waqar had a wpm of 5 or almost 5 iirc and a SR much lower than the other ATG bowlers. You are a Younis Khan fanboy ?Ambi above Waqar at all times in the 90's for mine. And I say that as an unabashed fanboy of the ***ehist Younis Pakistan ever produced.
When the choice is between Waqar and Ehtesham Younis, Kamran Younis, Nadeem Younis or Younis Ahmed, well..... (Ahmed had cool hair, though). You are a Younis Khan fanboy ?
With the Younises you aren't really spoiled for choice
Even then, as good as Waqar was during that time, Curtly also did his bit to keep his numbers down. And, unlike Waqar, Ambi didn't get smashed by Australia. In Waqar's favour, took 50 more poles so there's that.Ambrose and Wasim both above Waqar for me in the 90s (except if we only get to pick Waqar at his peak between 1990 and 1994).
At all times in the 90s? I know he wasn't great in the one series he played in Oz in the early ninties but you have to give Waqar 1990-1995, come on.Ambi above Waqar at all times in the 90's for mine. And I say that as an unabashed fanboy of the ***ehist Younis Pakistan ever produced.

Agreed... Waqar didn't fare well against the Aussies either, which is the acid test for a fast bowler. His SR was lower but his average and econ rate were both higher. He could be quite expensive too. While Waqar was pillaging NZ, Ambi was busy ownzing against OZ. I know who I would rather have bowled to at that time.......At all times in the 90s? I know he wasn't great in the one series he played in Oz in the early ninties but you have to give Waqar 1990-1995, come on.
The man was taking wickets at an incredible rate per match and an almost scary SR.
Waqar played his first series against Aus when he returned from a major back injury. Wasn't quite the same after 1994 so I do not tend to cut too many marks for that. The fact that his peak was so short and it was quite rapidly downhill after that is what does not give me too many fond memories of Waqar. I always think of him as a bowler in perpetual decline.Agreed... Waqar didn't fare well against the Aussies either, which is the acid test for a fast bowler.
All Younis's are handsome bastards BTW, must be something in the Pathan blood.
Waqar Younis is not a pathan.........and Waqar Younis was never considered handsome in Pakistan
Ugghh.. couldn't stand the Uncleji moustaches favoured by Ijaz, Salim Malik and Javed. In the 90s we also did have the likes of Anwar, Mushy, Ijaz Ahmed who were not quite fancied amongst the ladies. The ladies do drool over Shahid Afridi (he is a pathan though).
The Akmals. The less we talk about them the better. Kami khatmal has single handedly lost so many matches for pakistan that no other player in the history of cricket would have lost so many for his team and still found a place in the side.
wasim looks better tbhhaha, love where this thread has gone.
Waqar sporting a bandito? I say yes.
lol.........was in vogue in the 80s.....these guys fell behind the times I should sayUgghh.. couldn't stand the Uncleji moustaches favoured by Ijaz, Salim Malik and Javed.

EDIT : That's a great photo of Wasim and Waqar though.
