How the hell does people think that as solid side in sub-continet?
Only top 4 in that side can be qualified as LO batsmen, among them
Strauss' ODI form away from home is mediocore
Despite all the praise heaped on him, Bell didn't really crack it in the way everyone thinks he is, besides he seems to be too text book on SC wickets and generally does premeditated bull**** against spin to get out in soft manners
Trott is the only player team can really rely on but he never played in SC(failed in ban), still he should make runs
KP is just getting back to some ODI form.
Another weakness is out of these top4 Strauss,KP / Trott,KP partnerships were never prolific for whatever reason
Now into 5,6,7
Prior, RavBop, Yardy : I am pretty sure colly will play ahead of either bop or yardy. But if colly's **** form continued then you can't expect more than 50 runs from these three positions consistently.
Bowling seems pretty good : But have a feeling Bresnan will get hit around the park. Broad's knack of getting wickets is v.important. Swann can be effective as ever. But Anderson might be a bit of hit and miss.
But overall batting seems ****ing weak and dire. Strong tail but its a long one starting at 5.
To really exceed expectations like in CT 09
At least two batsmen should have a blinder of tournament [ala shah (vs SA), and colly in CT 09]
I expect opposition teams to score around 300 against ENG. To win those games mean trott has to continue in the same way and hope for either KP to get back to his best, seems unlikely or bell to have a coming of age tournament ala cook in the ashes, won't happen.
Hopefully I will be proven wrong, and prior, bopara, yardy will strike @150 in PPs and win all the games for England.
