That's hardly fair imo. If someone gets injured and ruled out of the comp, then they should get a replacement imo.

What's not fair is that this rule wasn't clarified at the start. Yes, it was my assumption, but as it wasn't commented on at the time, I assumed that if your player got injured, you lost them... As such, I didn't pick Ryder when I would have taken him early.

I think in case of short term injury ,there should be no replacements.

In any case for most players who get injured the replacement call ups in the squad won't get as many games(though there are exceptions).

So it is fair.

While I agree that a rule should have been sorted out earlier, I don't think the difference is as prominent as you're making out. A lot of injuries would result in the player being 'lost' anyway.

Using Ryder as an example, if he were injured NZ would play How or Williamson ahead of his replacement (who would that even be? Elliot?) so you'd effectively lose a player in the draft. So not picking Ryder due to his being injury prone is still pretty sensible.

Relax? Relax? RELAX?!? I will do no such thing. I want to wave my arms around frantically, stamp my foot and get very upset about taking part in an ODI draft where my selection partner hast forsaken me.

While The likes of Hussey ,Ryder and one more who has not been picked yet, were doubtful from the start only and may be unfair that they got picked knowing their doubts(And Marsh may get to play games for Mussey too,if he comes in).
The problem occurs when while the draft was going on someone like Swann picks up the injury and misses the WC or even during the world cup.

It would be unfair then not to allow a replacement player ,when the player when picked was not injured.

Even the ICC allow to do so.
