Nice to see Rooney get a good goal today, and not stuff one up from two yards, Nani's cross was a beauty mind..... Absolutely storming for us this season. Nothing like a prima donna Portugeezer with a balance problem and a blind barber to propel us to glory (just wait until Bebe's had a few years to get used to England, like the other two took, he'll take over the mantle!)

As for Carroll, well, not worth £35m, but Berbatov wasnt worth £30m, but is now, neither was Rooney worth £27m until last year, sometimes you have to pay excess for a long term investment, and I think Carroll might pay liverpool back over his time there. He's strong in the air, a rocket of a left foot and 'good feet for a big man'. Reckon he'll lap up anything Gerrard has to offer. Sure he'll never go down as an inspired bargain, but if Liverpool can keep him long term he'll repay that original outlay (hell, getting CL football at the end of next season will do it financially). Also, not cup tied for Europe, which could be a big bonus if he helps Liverpool on a run in the comp. If he helps yer scousers nab that trophey, then thats a fair chunk of the fee paid for in season one.

As for Bendtner v Carroll, personally I'd take Carroll, as I think he's a bit more consistant and less prone to **** ups, doesnt wear a stupid number or pink boots. I dont think Bendtners justified the arrogance he brings to his game yet, and doesn't endear. I prefer an Arsenal team without him, as I think people underestimate his threat, but it depends which Nic turns up.

As to Carroll's off the field problems, wont be an issue in Liverpool, as its legal for Liverpool players to smack people in nightclubs.

It was a joke, Shankly said as much. Never has one funny line ever been so over-analyzed to ****.
Indeed. However, there are those out there who seem to adopt such a philosophy, the logic behind which I would suggest is...questionable.

Agreed, hence my comment about it being over-analyzed, but the comment itself wasn't stupid, any more then most other quips are anyway.

Shankly, was the funniest manager IMHO, even more then Clough and Docherty.

Gary Neville retires from all football, immediately. Great news for all football fans, except for the fact that the Sky gig is up for grabs:-O

Bring back Gray. it was just banter, pc brigade gone mad, what about Loose Women?blah blah blah

Just booked my train tickets and hotel room for Carlisle away on February 22.

Looking forwards to the legend of Brunton Park on a Tuesday night, and wondering if the away fans will number more than 100.

Loved Kolarov's goal.

LFC used the 5-3-2!!! I've been using it on Fifa for the last year, it was very exciting to see them using it in the second half, to good effect.

Really enjoyed that game. Meireles just keeps on going.

Lassana Diarra and Sami Khedira are fighting for one place at Real Madrid. One of them is likely to leave at the end of the season, probably Diarra, and while not exactly the dream option he'd be cheap, young and a big improvement on what we have.
Wouldn't want either of those two.

Diarra seems limited to mainly being a holding player and we already have Carrick for that plus Fletcher has good defensive qualities. If we bin off Hargreaves then yeah he might be a decent option but not a 1st choice. Maybe I'm not paying attention but I haven't really seen Khedira do much. He's not rubbish but don't see anything outstanding. Would prefer a dynamic player to be brought in or someone with good attacking qualities. ATM though they're better options than Gibson and Anderson so would gladly accept but I'd rather better players or a player with high potential.
