Naeem and Ash are backups incase the seamers are getting carted and you can't rely on them for their full 20. Or y'know, if spinners are having a particularly good day.

Shuvo - Razzak - Shakib has been such a fantastic combination recently, I can't see them wanting to break it up. Mahmadullah is a better choice over Naeem you could say, he is a better batsman and probably more reliable as a bowler. But Shakib likes Naeem because he's a good fielder, and is better at hitting out at the end than Mahmadullah. And because Shakib is quickly turning into BD's Vettori, his word will count for a lot.

.....

It all boils down to either one of Nafees or Shuvo getting the cut. The coaches, selectors and captain don't want to break the Imrul-Tamim opening pair.

Mahmudullah is a consolidator who can hit once he is nicely settled in. A better batsmen, an average bowler. Naeem in comparison to Mahmudullah is a better bowler but average batsmen, who though has the ability to hit it BIG if the situation demands (and he decides to wake up from his slumber)!

Rubel and Shafiul are most likely going to spearhead the pace attack on almost all the matches.

Fielding coach Julian Fountain is a huge fan of Naeem and Shuvo, bowling coach Ian Pont has stated that Shafiul is the cleverest of the pacers lot and can now seem the ball both ways better than the other two, Rubel's reverse swing has improved and Nazmul has improved his cutters. And all their pace has increased by 5+ kph :)!

So that is that! It is shameful to think though how selfish Mashrafe has become through all this...he is not only irking the media and fans, but taking it way too far by pretending to be the hero he is not anymore! Shameful indeed!

If Ashraful is going to play it's have to be as an allrounder. I would be more comfortable with him at 7 than elsewhere, Bangladesh have a real problem with acceleration in the final overs and he can be used there at least until he re-discovers some form. Mahmudullah is another option.

Concered about the lack of variety in Shakib, Razzak and Shuvo bowling 25-30 overs but it's worked, so I'll go with it. I've been impressed by Nafees, can't help but feel he's worth backing.

Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Junaid Siddique, Raqibul Hasan, Shakib Ul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammed Ashraful/Mahmudullah, Shurawadi Shuvo, Adbur Razzaq, Shfiul Islam, Rubel Hossain.

Sounds very encouraging, especially the bolded part.

Rubel certainly has the kind of action that you would associate with reverse swing, with his slingy-style. The improvement in pace is certainly Pont's forte, he's worked with and improved the pace of many decent bowlers in the world, something he specialises in. So it comes as no surprise that he's cranked up the pace of these Bangladeshi bowlers, who all had room for improvement and now they are able to work with a respected specialist bowling coach, the benefits will hopefully be there for all to see.

Mahmudullah sucks at accelerating the innings, usually. He can do it but inexplicitly chooses not to, generally. If he's going to play I think he has to bat in the top five; six at the absolute lowest. Ashraful at seven doesn't sound like an awful idea, but I'd probably prefer Naeem.

It's really frustrating to see Mahmudullah block during the PP tbh. Would say a bit like Misbah - got all the shots but needs to time to get set. So AWTA.

And at seven, Jahurul or Nazmul sounds good imo. Nazmul is the best power hitter in BD afaik. Naeem really fails to contribute down the lower order these days, but if he can, he's the best option as he's a decent bowler and terrific fielder.

Nazmul is the best power hitter in BD but it's not the Nazmul Hossain that's in the World Cup squad. It's a different Nazmul Hossain (in Bangladesh many people have the same name, they are differentiated by using nicknames).
Nazmul Hossain Milon is a beast in the Bangladesh Domestics and DPL competition but afaik hasn't played for the National team yet. His best inning was when he came into bat for his team Dhaka when the score was 6 for 90, and the target set by Rajshahi was 300. He went berserk and blasted 144 of 89 balls to setup the win for Dhaka. His half-century came in 56 balls, then he scored the next 50 runs in 20 balls to reach his century and the final 44 runs came only from 12 balls. Naeem Islam from the World Cup squad bore the brunt of Milon's assault.

Also in other news Bangladesh have overtaken the WI and are now 8th in the ODI Rankings :jump:
It surely won't be long till world domination follows
