One wonders how much White getting bogged-down contributed to that shot. Making Clarke look brilliant by comparison.

When you bat at #7 in LO cricket, then isn't that exactly what you are suppossed to do all the time.
Disagreed completely. For one, surely the hope is that he'll bat higher in future, and that he'll be an asset in Tests. Also, everyone needs to build an innings at some point. The Australian top order isn't the powerhouse it once was. He needs the backing to bat properly once in a while.

If White stays their till the last few overs, then he certainly can win this pretty much on his own.
Btw... hate that dab shot to 3rd man so much, its such a risky shot just for a single run....

Collie bowling Yardy out of the side for the WC? England could go with a tail of

Collingwood
Broad
Bresnan/Shahzad
Swann
Anderson

Would give lots of batting depth and I reckon Collingwood will be bowling a lot of overs in the WC but I don't think they will risk it, if they could get more overs out of Trott/Bell/Pietersen it would be an option. Don't mind Colly at 7 but not sure he's batting well enough to justify a top 6 spot atm.

Its not that he isn't capable of building an innings, but batting at #7 he atm is not going to do much else than slogging most of the time, personally though I don't think that's the right role for him.

All the focus has been on Clarke but Cameron White is a dead set shadow so far this summer.

40+ balls without a four for White, very unlike him

EDIT: Interestingly enough we're not far behind the 8-ball though. I'd say we'd like to have another 5-10 runs at this stage but a good over or two and we're back in this

White bats like this during the initial phase of most of his knocks, his SR only improves when he starts playing his shots later on in his innings.
White and even Dussey for that matter aren't really great when its comes to maneuvering the balls into the gaps and keeping the scorecard ticking, that's where we are missing someone like a Mike Hussey or Ferguson in our middle order.

Problem with White today is he doesn't look like hitting it. Dussey actually is playing a lot like Mike lately, seems to be hitting the gaps which was one of the problems when he was in the side last time round.

Well I've watched a bit of him and I'm not used to seeing him bunt full tosses back down the deck. I hope he comes good, we need him to.

Should've put that into the river.

Just not seeing them properly at the moment, you feel.

Okay what was that? That's not like him at all.

The tricky part is that most of the remaining runs would have to come from these two, don't expect either Smith or Hastings to make much of a contribution under pressure.
This is exactly why I don't get the reason behind not having someone like Christian in the squad, the bloke can change the complexion of the game pretty much on his own and having a game changer like him lower down the order would have been very handy.
