I am still relatively new on this site but I appreciate the culture of the web site and the efforts that go into moderation to maintain the atmosphere.

Thank you

(Except for the banning of Bruce Campbell - when is he coming back?)
Awta.

Needs to come back.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
cbf getting into the finer details and I mostly think if it ain't broke but if this does a better job than the 'forum atmosphere' clause I will be pleased, as there usually seems to be certain posters who crop up and post absolutely trollish slurge but manage to hang around for a few weeks or months before eventually being banned for forum atmosphere reasons. While it's obvious such posters are brought to the attention of mods and there is stuff going on behind the scenes, it seems like not much is happening when these guys continue to post in the exact same way before and after a warning. If infractions could result in these people banned in a much shorter period of time then I'm not against it.

otherwise we're being oppressed, police state, freedom of speech, **** rights etc etc.

Speaking as a comparatively new joinee to this forum I'd say there's nothing wrong with a bit of cussing (if done in a friendly manner) as the censor takes it out anyway. It took me a few days to adjust, but once I did, I had absolutely no problem with it. Deliberately avoiding the censor could possibly warrant some sort of correcting I guess.

The only instance where the mods probably should step in is when a few people simply disagree on some small matter (Player A vs Player B generally) and make it a huge argument and soon resort to attacking each other indirectly with little snide remarks and insults. Those sort of things have no place in any community, even an online one where people apparently have more freedom.

Other than that I think the mods are reasonably active and do a fairly good job considering the size of this forum.

Wow, this place is like a US county jail, 'We got a 2;15 in block A, send personel' Also, 'Serial Offender' wow, it's like watching the news. Therefore, I'm in favour.

The system is going to be implemented within the next day or two, but just a word on the swearing aspect that caused a lot of debate earlier. We've tried to stress the fact that personal, direct abuse - even though it may be meant as a joke - is something we're trying to cut down on, as what one member sees as a joke, others may see as offensive. Obviously it's been a bit confusing given the way the thread's gone, but just a couple of examples to help clear it up on what it is and isn't acceptable, using posts from the Aus-Eng ODI a couple of nights ago.

Posts like these, for example, are fine. Obviously if people are overdoing the swearing in this sort of context, or avoiding the filter, other warnings or infractions may be involved, but in general stuff like this isn't going to attract any attention:

Holy ****! This is amazingly fortunate stuff.
Complete ****ing liability
We are ****.
Tbh, dont reckon the problem is confined to ODIs

Would've been interesting to see how they coped if they had batted first in Melbourne or Sydney given their performances in Perth and Day 1 in Brisbane

Everywhere else they batted on absolute roads against **** bowling
****, finally. Australia should not do that - against the good sides it just won't do.
So uh, if Marsh is ruled out, who comes in for him? Finch? Bailey? ****in Dan Harris?
Posts like these, on the other hand, contain direct abuse toward other members - joking or otherwise - and would result in a warning or an infraction.

Two weeks before a WC, ****. You want them to **** off and play with themselves then turn up three days before it begins with no practice and get ass raped like India in SA?

Practiccccccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeee man!
Who gives a ****, ****? Like he'd be fielding for us.

Come on, man! Get it together.
Not meaning to single out Burgey there mind you, it's just the first two that I could find in the thread. Hopefully that helps clear things up a bit. Again, we're not cracking down on people pointing out that their team is ****, just trying to cut back on posters directing stuff towards other members.
