A few thoughts...
* I'd have liked to vote in this.
* Tendulkar and Akram are the two best ODI players ever. I have no doubt about them. They'd be one and two on my list. I know this sounds narrow-minded, but any other top two would be bad IMO.
* Kallis... he's one of the best allrounders ever, but in ODI's he's a shocker! His stats make him seem wayyyy better in the ODI arena than he really was. I can't remember how many games he's scored some good runs, helping his average, but scored them so slowly that it hurt his side. The famous 430+ game was an example. Gibbs got them off to a good start, but Kallis slowed them down. In fact Kallis going out probably won South Africa that game. The 1999 World Cup semi final is another example. He shouldn't be in the top 20.
* Nice to see Dean Jones make the top 20. He revolutionized ODI cricket.
* Lance Klusener... what a player he was in his prime. He should be top 10 just for the fact he had the best peak of a player I've ever seen. It was too small a peak, but man he demolished sides!

Few players who belong to the modern age are a better fit for the notion of the classical cricketer. Kallis is a fine, forceful batsman who has at his disposal both a rock-solid technique and a mind impervious to distraction. Though his role as a bowler diminishes with each passing season, he will be remembered as a purveyor of sometimes surprising pace and swing, and awkward bounce. In the slips, his sure-handedness and rattlesnake reflexes make ridiculous catches look regulation.
Kallis has scored over 11000 runs at an average of over 45 and taken over 250 wickets.

Warne, who won the Man-of-the-Match prize in a World Cup final , relied on his two oldest friends: excruciating accuracy and an exquisite legbreak, except that he controlled the degree of spin - and mixed it - at will.
In 194 matches for his country, he took 293 wickets.

In 1988, Kapil overtook Joel Garner to become the highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket. His final career tally of 253 wickets remained a record until it was broken by Wasim Akram in 1994
Dev’s most memorable innings with the blade was undoubtedly his 175 off 138 balls, he had come to the crease with India reeling at 5/17. The innings included 16 fours and 6 sixes.

The bat raised high in the air, the weight poised on a bent front knee, the eyes low and level. Then the guillotine would fall, sending the ball flashing to the boundary.
Lara scored over 10000 runs in his 299 matches at an average of 40. He was man of the match on 30 occasions underlying just how important he was to the West Indies.
Lara announced before the 2007 Cricket World Cup that this would be his last appearance in One Day Internationals. After his last match, in the post-game presentation interview, he asked the fans, "Did I entertain?" to which he received a resounding "Yes!" from all cricket lovers.

When thinking of Sanath Jayasuriya, you think of shots hammered through point and cover and scythes over the leg side. You recall a man who could score briskly, who slashed and burned his way through bowling attacks.
As with anyone who relied so much on extraordinary hand-eye coordination, there were troughs and lean times, but just as the obit writers got busy, he would produce another innings of supreme power. The bowling, always canny and relying more on variations in pace than sharp turn, became the supporting act, though 322 wickets should tell you that he was pretty adept at what he did, on four occasions taking 5 wickets in a match and having best bowling figures of 6/29.
The World Cup winning Jayasuriya finished his career with 28 hundreds, a career strike rate of 91.22 a highest score of 189 and he smashed 270 sixes.

waqar already made it. so six out of seven from your list and gilchrist, garner, pollock and murali will make the top ten. sounds about right. ranking sanath out of top ten is a punishable offense in most countries.

Interesting to see Warne so high. He was a good player, but wasn't overly special in OD cricket.
