Watched bits and pieces of the first day's play - Novak looked in great form tonight, easily disposing of a player ranked in the top 50. Looking forward to the schedule tomorrow, especially the night matches - Safina v Clijsters and Hewitt v Nalbandian.

Amazing that Clijsters is one of the best tennis players in the world despite not playing tennis for 2 and a half years and becoming a mother. Whereas say Safina suffered an injury and lost it completely.

Hewitt/Nalbandian will be good though. Both are players past their peaks, but are still pretty decent, Nalbandian still has an OK ranking and Hewitt just won a pre-Grand Slam tournament, so he'd be raring to go.
