True. Does sound like an interesting thread.

Was just watching some of the Wasim, Waqar clips from 92-93 tri-seies uploaded by the one and only Robelinda. Waqar's reverse swing yorkers are just awesome. Saw two matches where SA choked from such strong position mainly due to some top notch bowling from the 2Ws.

Very similar. Waqar a little more expensive by the standards of his era.
Can you point me to the link for those videos, BTW? Couldn't find them in that thread, I also want to watch it again.. :)

As I said, Miandad should have been higher. I predicted correctly though that Miandad would make in the 26-30 range in CW's rankings.

Good to see Ganguly in the top 30, though I didn't vote for him. Same for Lee and Donald.

So now with Bond, Haynes, Hussey and Miandad gone, I have 21 more players from my list remaining. And I'm pretty sure that ALL of them will be in CW's top 25.

Who'll be the other 4 (from outside my list)? Let me guess...Imran, McCullum, Symonds and Waqar I think.
Yeah even I thought Miandad should have been higher given the number of match saving knocks he had played for Pakistan. McCullum, Symonds, and Imran should not make it into the top 25 IMO (although I just couldn't resist putting Imran in my list mainly due to his captaincy). Waqar though definitely deserves a place in the top 25 IMO.

Finally two players from my top 25 make it on here. Hussey and Lee.

Might end up being a pretty good list from the looks of it.

Well, 21 players from my list are remaining. They are Viv, Murali, Sachin, Abbas, Wasim, Dhoni, Kapil, Pollock, Hadlee, Lara, Gilchrist, Saqlain, Garner, Jayasuriya, McGrath, Dean, Ambrose, Klusener, Bevan, Ponting and Warne. My guess is that all of these 21 will make CW's top 25.

However, even after that consideration 4 other places remain up for grabs. We agree that Waqar will be 1 among these 4. What are your guesses for the other 3? My guess is that Imran and Symonds will make it, too. I'm not too sure about the 3rd one, but I think McCullum might make it.

I get the feeling that Hadlee and Abbas might not make it otherwise your list looks quite robust.

Interesting question. I think Walsh will be in there. Symonds might not make it. Kallis might be there. Imran might make the cut.

I think it would be Kallis Imran and Walsh. Your list otherwise looks quite similar to mine.

Voted for Ganguly, Hussey and Donald from that lot. Including Greenidge, that's four of my selected players.

Walsh won't make it (come on, this is for ODIs). Hadlee and Abbas will. I'm sure about these 3.

Kallis is an interesting throw-in in the midst. Yeah I change my 3rd guess to Kallis.

So, besides my 21, Imran, Kallis and Symonds might make it. That's my revised guess.

This guessing game is interesting :)

The guessing game is interesting for sure. I still don't think Symonds will make it. At least he shouldn't.

Now that you say it out aloud I do feel Walsh might not make it. So who can it be? From my list so far Crowe, ME Waugh, Donald, Miandad, and De Silva have been selected. I think it could be......

revised guess......Imran, Kallis, Waqar, and aaaagghhh........its a tough one....Ill stick with Walsh for the time being

Watson isn't considered a top notch all rounder in any case.
When did I claim he is top notch? What are your top 5 ODI all-rounders of AT? Compare Watson's stats with stats of your all-rounders.

Watson is very good ODI opener. ~46 avg and ~90 SR.
As a bowler, he has SR of ~35, AVG of ~28 and ECO of ~4.9. These are good numbers in modern times.

Not to mention, he is still in his prime.

Those are impressive stats indeed but as you mention that he seems to be in his prime. i would like to have him play more and then pass a judgment.

The reason I was taking McCullum's name is that a top 50 list should have more than 2 wicketkeepers I believe. Dhoni and Gilchrist both will be in the top 20, if I can guess correctly. But shouldn't there be another wicketkeeper among the rest 30 players? (21-50)

While I too am skeptical about whether Symonds deserves to be in the top 25, I guess he has a very strong case to be included in the top 50. He has been a very good batting all-rounder in ODIs. If the likes of Chris Harris can make the list, Symonds should walk into it. Just check his ODI batting stats. (Don't get me wrong. I have always loved Harris and hated Symonds personally. But facts are facts.)

By the way, have we had Flintoff yet? ... I see he too hasn't been there yet. I thought he should have been with the likes of allrounders like Cairns and Watson in ODIs. Hmmm interesting...

Do you guys reckon Dhoni will be in? If so around where?
He'll DEFINITELY be there. A better ODI batsman than Hussey (already ranked at 28). Add his wicketkeeping and captaincy and you'll get a top 15 material.

Again, what are your top 5 ODI all-rounders of AT?

Amount of ODI that Watson has played compares and exceeds with some of players that are listed in 25-50 (Crowe, Border, Holding, Marshall, Bond, Bracken, Fairbrother, Greenidge, Chappell) will be listed in top 25 (Hadlee, Abbas, Garner). He has played for 10 years now. As time ticks, he probably isn't going to change much.
