It's difficult to see England coming to India and winning a test match, let alone a series.

I too find it difficult to see them winning a match, but it wouldn't be too shocking. A series - no. In fact, I kind of want them to win a series because it'd be an epic one if they did - beating India on a complete dustbowl?

Yeah, and I used an incorrect plural myself - he was the only one, I think, making that point.

Anyhow I agree with you that a series win in India for England seems pretty unlikely. The series at home this summer, though, is a different story and I'd expect a close and very hard-fought series with the winner quite hard to predict.

Yea, England would be the favorites though - depending on Zaheer's fitness and the type of pitches prepared making the balance tilt toward either side (well....Zaheer not being fit would make England massive favorites).

Makes me laugh that Zaheer almost never gets the credit after a series is won compared to the batsmen, but before a series is always the most important player in the side.

English pitches don't really bounce that much, do they? That makes it easier for Indians, I suppose... Our boys find it harder to deal with pace and bounce than seam and swing...

England will be favorites at home. And if Zaheer is missing from the Indian team - a very likely possibility given the WC, IPL, and WI tour before the England tour - India will certainly struggle to take 20 English wickets. In such a scenario, the best India can hope for is get some wonderful bowling conditions when the ball is in their hand, as it happened quite a few times last summer, and hope not to be found at the wrong end of the stick while batting.

Hope the above pacifies the English supporters who seemed deeply disturbed when I said, England don't have much of a chance of winning a test in India.

Yeah, I thought the same thing actually. I posted something similar, except the tone of Burgey's post was a lot more light-hearted than mine.
