Fantastic knock. Watson will end his career as one of the Greatest ODI cricketers of all time. His record is incredible now.

Jesus Christ Strauss. There are acres of room out there, he's not going to hit it to you on the full!

ACRES of space. Wow.

Well played Watson.

But England have been seriously ****e for too much of the game. Crap batting by most of our middle and lower order, no threat at all from our opening bowlers and way too many errors in the field. Throw in some iffy captaincy, and this has been something of a shocker. The rest of this series should be a real treat.

Surely has to be one of the best ODI knocks we've seen in this country? Not even just for the size of it, if he'd gotten out just after 100 it was still a ****ing brilliant knock.

Still pumping out the 2's. Immense.

I don't want to know what cruel words you have for our fielding effort then...

Decent over. I think Australia will not want to leave too much to the last over, so they might go for some boundaries here. Maybe it's worth the gamble for Strauss to tempt a slog by bringing the field up.

... tbh I missed it. I suppose it always looks worse when it's key errors that cost you the match though. If Trott had been remotely mobile, Watson would have gone ages ago and we're looking at a very different game. I'm not saying Aus didn't deserve to win, btw, before anyone gets the wrong impression.

Think we're being a touch harsh on Bresnan here. That was shockingly bad umpiring if he really didn't indicate for the first one.

Tremlett and the batsmen the biggest culprits in this defeat. Realistically, we should have made at least 20 more than we actually did. Still, it's only the first match of a seven-match series and in no way necessitates the over-reactions from some posters on here. FFS, teams have bad days. There's no way this England side will perform this badly in the next match. And equally no way that Watson will be quite as epically good as he has been in this innings.

Admittedly, it is looking like a very strange decision indeed to rest Anderson (our only real considered very good one-day bowler given Broad's injured) from the first three ODIs. The T20s should have more than sufficed.
