Ahhh, yet more embarrassment for the game without the UDRS.

As an aside, why do the ICC cite 'the absence of universal contracts' with technology providers as being the reason the UDRS isn't compulsory when effectively they're bowing down to the players & cricket boards. They need to grow a spine & make it compulsory in the contract for the TV networks. Which TV network can't provide the technology anyways?

Martin not Southee looks like the one whose bowling into the stiff breeze, pretty gentle stuff so far it must be said.

I think we are about to see Azhar Ali's first Test ton over the course of today and tomorrow.

I'm seriously impressed with him.

Seeing Hafeez getting out to a shocker of decision, and some of the decisions that both teams have copped has proved why the UDRS should be mandatory in all series. Hafeez would of appealed and he would been given not out, game moves on. It's bull**** that teams have a say at all. Who cares if people like Tendulkar or Dhoni don't like it, what are they going to do, refuse to play in protest?

What I don't get is the reason why it's not being used. Apparently it's down to "issues with the technology and the providers" (or something like that), but haven't the Kiwis used UDRS before?

From memory we were the first to use it, against the Windies in 08/09?

And saying Hafeez's decision was a 'shocker' is getting carried away. It wasn't out, but it was a very hard one to decipher, even initially on replay. The problem is that the technology is there and a) it's affecting the way Test matches are decided and b) it's making umpires look like fools if we don't embrace it across the board.

This big swinging dick mentality of India to not take it is ridiculous. We're all aware they can afford it, but for some reason are pushing their weight around. As someone said - can't the rest of us use it anyway?

Umpiring has been real **** so far in this series. Don't mean to say it because of hafiz but it's been quite ****. Last time when Pak visited I don't recall but was udrs used? I mean Nz has hotspot, sniko and everything then why not use it

Oh FFS, edges like that have to be taken. Taylor definitely standing too wide, would have been straight at a regulation first slip.

If Martin was going to continue, I think he could argue for himself to bat 10 with Arnel 11 as well.
