Jadeja's 2-29 was more crucial as he bowled his full 10 overs and was almost at a half RPO than rest of the bowlers. RPO of 2.90 for one bowler chasing 299 is lethal in 10 overs.

While Kallis got 2 of his 3 wickets at the end when India was hitting out and also had a RPO of 4.14.

While his innings of 89 was too slow in the context of the game and never looked threatening a win at any stage.
Infact reading the reports of the game that middle period where they lost wickets was due to their being too much pressure due to required RPO.

Jadeja's inning was slowish too in the context.

Kallis's was the most outstanding performance in the match. If the SA tailenders got the necessary runs to win the match.. the MOM would have been Kalliss.

Graeme Smith is someone I have an immensely personal beef with.

I was 12 when I saw my first ever Test.

It was the first day of this one.

I can't begin to describe the mind-crushingly awful experience of that. The fact that I still watch cricket at all is largely a result of trying to forget Grame Smith's batting.
I used to hate Graeme Smith cause he had a tiff with Pietersen...

I was an impressionable child.

that's because none of the top order batsmen contributed significantly. It's Kallis who put them in a situation for the lower order to try to win the game. Are you saying 90 runs at 91 is too slow?
Kallis when he got out at 42.6 overs he left them 74 runs off 7 overs at a required run rate of near 11.

While he played the anchor,he never really threatened to win the game at any stage.

While he was at the crease the required RR only rose and rose.

It only began to drop after he got out ,which was due to the final attempt by the tail.

I hate Smith because he trampled on my hero, Nasser Hussain's heart. :( Not that I ever really liked the England test squad but Nasser was the man.

Lol. That's a shocker. Jerling saws Botha in two. Practically middled it.

EDIT: That might be the worst decision ever. Didn't actually even hit the pad.

Rather reminiscent of my first day of Test cricket, also aged 12, against the Saffers on the 98 tour. It was a match that would go down to the wire as Croft and Fraser saved the Test and turned the series, but day one consisted of Gerry Liebenberg being **** for half an hour, followed by 90 overs of Kallis and Kirsten. Stumps came at 237/1. I didn't attend another day one until Boxing Day in Melbourne, which was altogether better.

Incidentally, when did Simon Taufel go blind?

EDIT: Not Taufel. Jerling. I appreciate the irony, however I did get the LBW right.
