Whatever it takes!!!
Obviously the way you know if he was bowling at his best is if anyone scored 200*. Therefore, anyone who scores 200* against Steyn, their innings is irrelevant, as it came against Steyn who was evidently not bowling at his best.

I love it.
That Sehwag flowchart, isn't it? You should really make a generic one for Indian performances...

Razzaq played a great knock but it was the sheer improbability of the task was what made it look so great in the first place.. IF you wanna compare, try any of Klusener's efforts in the 99 WC.. They were just the same and I don't think it made sense for them to wait so late before launching the assault as 9 times out of 10 it is simply not gonna work out. It is like Afridi trying the glory shot to good balls... The odd success makes it seem much more awesome than what it really is..
Razzaq waited so long so that he can have the most of the power plays. Smacking 60 odd runs in 4 overs with Pakistan's tail let alone their shaky top order is a phenomenal achievement. And to top it all a target had to be achieved which was why there was so much pressure.

Most people who play cricket would agree that it is always difficult to chase a target because there is the scoreboard pressure which is not there in the first innings. While Tendy's innings was special because nobody ever achieved it before but many people have come very very close to it. So you might say that it is not so special since he made only 6 more runs than Anwar's 200.

Yeah, but Razzaq took 36 more deliveries than Afridi's 100. As thrilling as Razzaq's assault was, it must be remembered that it was ultimately a 109 off 72 deliveries.

Exactly. You highlight my point even more. You can easily downgrade anybody's performance by playing around with words saying things like it really was not as great as it seemed because Klusener played similar knocks in 99. That was what I was trying to hint at to HB. In fact I had used the same words in that post as well but deleted them.

Knocks isn't the same as knock, though.

I don't even have to look beyond this year to find a comparable knock to Razzaq's.

Yusuf Pathan vs New Zealand. Not as good, but certainly in the same ballpark.

No one's saying Razzaq's knock wasn't a great one. Someone mentioned that if Viv played that knock, we'd never hear the end of it. He's absolutely right. But it's really really tough to hit a 200. Only been done once, for good reason.

I don't think any one is denying the fact that 200 is special. And as I quoted Saeed Anwar on the issue before that it was fitting that Sachin got to it.

IMO both Sachin and Razzaq knocks are over rated both were scored on flat roads against ok bowling.Sahin knock was historical but many similar knocks have been played in the las 10-15 years.Batsman scoring 170+ is very common on flat roads these days and it was only a matter of time before someone hit the 200 barrier similarly Razzaq's rescue act has been performed with similar success by the Klusner's and the Bevan's only this year Matthew almost matched it.

For me the best knock was Afridi 100 it was made under lights where the ball was seaming and swinging all over the place the only slight being it was not matchwinning.

Now that you mention it, Yusuf Pathan's knock was a brilliant one as well.

one of the most unbelievable innings I ever saw in my life. I was in shock after the match. So were my friends. As was Saeed Ajmal who is generally a very good t20 bowler.

Brilliant innings, but I would still give it to Hussey. His innings was just something else (and trust me, I am no fan of T20). Absolutely incredible knock.
It has to be the best T20 knock ever considering it came in a pressure cooker situation. The semi-final.

Now please stop rubbing salt on my wounds :p
