If you're "restricted out" of a grade in Sydney, it means you're deemed too good and not allowed to play in it. So he meant he was playing a low level now and that he'd expect me, in my early 20s, to be too good for it.So how does that work?
Lets say myself who is now mid 30s, injured and out of shape but played a reasonable level of cricket, would I be allowed to come off the long run at a lower grade against some schoolboys? If not, why not? I couldnt think of anything less fun right now playing a level where I would have to train and give a ****.
Well yeah, if you've had time off they look at it differently. Everyone gets graded based on last season's results - runs, wickets. Allowances made for age etc. Bit of common sense comes into it. Mate of mine and I wanted to drop back after 20 odd years in ones, so we wrote a letter asking the association if we could.. Said we would take whatever restrictions they put on us. Idea is to mentor younger kids as to playing and drinking properly. So how does that work?
