England are an excellent team no doubt and will be a huge challenge for India.

I think they will be wary of India though - they're no. 1 for a reason and I think they would have have certainly noted India's draw in SA (not easy for a subcontinental team to get a result over there).

I do think if India can put a decent attack the series will be competitive because Indian batsmen historically have found it easier to adapt to English conditions than SOuth AFrican ones.

Sri Lanka don't worry me - I don't think they've got the bowling to trouble us. Obviously you have to respect a middle order of Sangakkara-Jayawardene-Samaraweera but I'm confident our bowling attack will sort them out. Would be nice if Jayawardene passed 10,000 Test runs, such a gun.
Malinga might make it interesting, or Mendis if he gets back into form, but Malinga never plays and Mendis has been crap for ages.

Aside from the aborted series in Pakistan and his series in India, Mendis hasn't done too badly in his Test career so far has he?

Plus, with Swann in our side, I'd be suprised if we saw many pitches that didn't offer something for spin. England's not a bad place in the world to bowl spin itbt.

Mendis has played most of his tests against India-Pakistan, hasn't he ? It will be interesting to see how he goes against England.

Mendis can be absolutely sensational when he is bowling accurately. Hope he softens up the English batsmen a bit so that we can take advantage later... ;)

I'd respect a middle order of Ponting-Clarke-Hussey in Australia a lot more than those 3 in England TBH

Nah, as well as he bowled he's still a bench player when Broad returns.
Yeah definitely. I don't consider Bresnan "in possession" at all given he only played due to injury in the first place. He's credited himself with his performances and there will be pressure on Broad but Broad definitely still has a lot more credit in the bank.
