Just don't think in a comp like this he's good enough for playing as a batsman or a bowler. At best he'd be an OK utility player.

So the IPL is stronger then international cricket - where McCullum's bowling record is fantastic?

Its a fair point, methinks they've had some bad advice, there. No way Michael Yardy and Luke Wright think they're worth that much. Should have gone in at 200k.

As for availability, i'm not sure there's a problem. Sri Lanka matches start in May, IPL finishes in April.

IPL finishes in May IIRC. Shouldn't have much of a clash with Sri Lanka though.

He's married to an Indian lady. And BTW Murali is a 3rd generation Indian Tamil, so has ancestry as well, and has lot of his relatives in Chennai.

If done as an uncapped player I ma sure that some under the table bucks will be given to him and that will allow 5 internationals in th team. Anyway he's selected for Kochi for $1.1m, so no one tried to extract the "loop hole"
