IPL4 Auction

Lee struggled to stay fit, and sprayed all around in the two matches he got last time. Maybe that's why nobody wants him.

I can only think it's the scheduling conflict, otherwise it's a joke imo. Wait tiil Swanny comes up and doesn't get a bid, Best T20 team in the world but their not worthy.
They are choosing the best players for the IPL, where best means a mix of potential star value and ability IN INDIA. Then comes value for money (availability, price, remaining budget etc.)

I mean the general lack of money being paid for bowlers, and even more so foreign bowlers. They'll pay 1.5 mil for Jayawardene, yet no one wants to buy foreign bowlers.

And as i speak no one picking up Brett Lee. All i can do is lol.

Ooo Kolkata got him.
I suppose T20's more of a batsman's game, but yeah the lack of foreign bowling interest is ITSTL.

Morkel goes to Dehli. Bit of a steal for $475k.

Now Steyn's up. Should top $1 million+ imo.

If Steyn doesn't go for at least 750k its a joke, but he won't.

So, what your saying is, non of the England players could play T20 in India, pretty much the same surfaces as the WI, I understand your part in the brackets but still.

I think it's better to have a lower base price because that way you have a better chance of getting people to bid on you and getting them involved in a bidding war.

Bit too risky for a guy who just limped off the field and has just had a operation, but I hope he gets fit for it.

No, I'm saying the players are picked on a mix of potential ability AND fan pulling power. That's why KP and Broad were picked, both are well known here and both have a lot going for them for a t20 in India.

That's why Steyn just now went for 1 million +. He's got pace (good t20 asset plus Indian fans love pace) and having owned India many times he is very well known. Never mind the fact that he blew hot and cold in the last IPL, or even whenever he played in India before.

With most of the India players playing for teams other than their states, this looks all messed up. In a way, MI and CSK had a lot of foresight in retaining the core of their team so their fans could have some semblance of continuity.
