I like Anderson too but PEWS isn't me either because he rates Kulasekara much much higher than I do.

Haha yeah, PEWS loves everything English but I admittedly have an unconscious bias against the present English bowling line up. Anderson is forcing me to rate him 3rd best bowler in the world tbf. Still don't rate Swann nearly as highly as the rest of CC seems to.

Indeed. The closest to me is probably Uppercut, but he rates Andrew Symonds and isn't a robot so there are still some key differences.

To be fair, your posts about me when you thought I looked like my avatar suggest you like some of the same English things I do.

Interesting lineup.

From the best players i saw.

Jayasuriya.
Gilchrist.
Dean Jones.
Viv Richards.
Mark Waugh
Andrew Symonds
Steve Waugh
Simon O'Donnell.
Shane Warne
Malcolm Marshall
Joel Garner

Let's keep in mind the best one day teams were either the West Indies - two world cups and Australia - Four world cups.

Dunno If I'd play Bevan/Dhoni here tbf. The question should not be whether they deserve to be in it or not but rather whether, following such a strong top-order most of whom are awesome players in crisis, the team needs a player like Bevan where a better hitter but a worse player would suffice. Dhoni obviously has more going for him as he can keep and hit out too but I still dunno. Will try picking:-

Tendulkar
Waugh(M)
Richards
Abbas
Ponting
Dhoni
Pollock
Akram
Garner
Murali
McGrath

In other related news to this posts in this thread, anyone dropping Siddle can GAGF. He wasn't in my first choice before the Ashes but he's one of the few to come out of the series with any credit for us; stick with him.
Siddle should play every match until he's 64 after his performance at the MCG when Australia were losing the Ashes. Have no time whatsoever for the suggestion that he should be dropped.

People have mentioned the most obvious flaws already, so I won't go there, but I'd contemplate playing two spinners in Warne & Murali if I was seriously trying to pick the best team.

Having two spinners as your front line bowlers might expose them to the opposition batsmen in the last five overs. The only spinner I have seen bowl well in those last five overs was Saqlain. The other spinners usually stay away from the last 5 overs (even Murali).

I know that you did pick one of them in the end, but I'd have one of Dhoni/Bevan because it's a pretty specialist skill coming in in the middle/end of the innings and be able to sum up the situation and score from the get-go. Someone like a Ponting has very little experience in the role, and while he would be decent at it, I would rather a guy who has spent the best part of his career doing it for me.
