*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

Yep very poor form from Hughes. I think he got carried away in the moment, what with Cook being 99 and the appealing of his team mates. Still should have been strong enough to put those things to one side and admit that it bounced. He's saying "not sure" was really saying "no I didn't catch it, but let's send it upstairs and hope the replay shows a miracle".
It might have been interesting if Hughes had told Cook it had carried. Earlier in the series, Hussey iirc took a sharp catch close to the ground off Cook's batting, Cook asked Hussey if it had carried, Hussey said yes and Cook nodded at him and walked off.

So there's something that shows up on hotspot with KP but it's given not out, nothing shows up on hotspot with Bell despite a noise and given not out. Weird.
The KP hot spot showed about 6 inches away from the ball though Ricky.

FWIW I think Bell was fortunate to get away with it today, a bit like Clarke was fortunate to get away with it at the Gabba.

At the end of the day, the Aussies get more out of Clarke's let off than England did today.

Lol @ Johnson copping the criticism when Hilfeh and Siddle were as expensive and took 2 wickets less. I'm aware that when Johnson is having a bad spell he looks completely unpenetrative unlike the others but surely not the bowler to criticize for this match?
It's not just about stats FFS.

England must be privately laughing a little at how 'the hardest tour to undertake' has pretty much been a cakewalk, we have shown zero fight bar perth, and have just let england completely set the tone and play how they want to.

Someone (Corrin i think) was saying Cook gave an interview in which he said Hughes told him he was unsure it had carried.

There comes a point where the stats are too strong to ignore though. Hilfenhaus' 5 wickets in 5 tests @ 70 odd is far beyond that point.

The guy has had a pathetic series and that's being generous.

I would have thought he was sure (it appeared a clear bounce) but was taken in by the moment and by peer pressure.

.
Agreed.

The evidence is even more damning when you consider the number of overs he has bowled- we've had a real good look at him. You just can't continue to be unlucky for that length of time, that amount of work.
