Haha, that was actually pretty clever after everyone called you Bryce for two weeks. Well done.No worries Michael

Hughes did say he wasn't sure. I'd be pretty irritated if this became a black mark on his copybook.Hmm just saw a replay of that Hughes thing, pretty disappointing. I'm confused now, because I would have thought Hughes would be one of the least likely people cheat - he seems like a really decent bloke. Did he maybe just get caught up in the moment?
I'll win that, hands down (by ankle)Geez, we'll be up to a ****-off next. Enough of the bickering, stick to the topics at hand.
Hmm that's interesting. His celebration was pretty confident though. I wonder if he did that because he didn't want to feel like he let the team down (not that he could have done much better, it was an excellent effort).Hughes did say he wasn't sure. Yeah probably this. Especially because it is Clarke who for all respects and purposes is his mentor.I doubt Hughes intended to cheat. He definitely felt pressured to claim it after seeing Clarke's celebration IMO.
No I'm not saying Clarke definitely knew it bounced. Just saying after seeing the skipper celebrate he instinctively claimed the catch.
Poor form all round, but forgiveable.
Yes, thinking about it afterwards, in the heat of the moment, with the adrenaline flowing, he just got swept up by it all and then thought 'uh uh we better check it'.Hmm that's interesting. I think he was there for the clip off the legs which he sometimes doesn't control rather than as a regulation batpad, there wasn't a lot of turn so i think it was a tactic rather than a placement mistake.Hughes is a good lad.
But from the very instance where Hughes went to short leg for Cook, I wanted him to be much closer in. I mean it was quite ridiculous how far back he was positioned.
Really? Because I rather think Hughes is a poor fieldsman, especially in that position. And I noticed for other batsman he was that deep too.I think he was there for the clip off the legs which he sometimes doesn't control rather than as a regulation batpad, there wasn't a lot of turn so i think it was a tactic rather than a placement mistake.
He's been the short leg for a lot of his Test career IIRC. Certainly the backup for Katich.Really? Because I rather think Hughes is a poor fieldsman, especially in that position. And I noticed for other batsman he was that deep too.
Yeah but even in other games he's been deep, under Ponting's captaincy for example when Siddle/Mitch has been bowling short to Prior/Bell.He's been the short leg for a lot of his Test career IIRC. Certainly the backup for Katich.
Given the fields Clarke was setting, with lots of short mid wickets, leg gullies etc I would say flibbertyjibber is correct and that was the plan.
True but given that he's not there as a bat pad I'd not want him much closer.Yeah but even in other games he's been deep, under Ponting's captaincy for example when Siddle/Mitch has been bowling short to Prior/Bell.
You watch Cook always get right under the nose of the batsman, but you can't even see Hughes in the frame when the bowler bowls.
No doubt that it could be the plan, but would be such a shame if there was a bat/pad though that dropped short.True but given that he's not there as a bat pad I'd not want him much closer.
I can't. The reason Cook scored so many runs was helped along by our bowlers being crap. What amazes me is, even after getting him exactly as you'd expect him to be dismissed a couple of times, we still managed to revert to bowling rubbish.I can deal with the bowlers being crap, its the batting that miffs me. Guys averaging 45+ and some over 50 just not doing the job, yet a guy like Cook who looks like he has one scoring shot can make 700+ runs and look like he's having the most extended net session of all time, not even sweating.
This is an alien concept for you guys when you are questioning why we're not at the ground mid-week to watch Australia get flogged.Probably because most of our lot are either in bed or at work which is an alien concept for you obviously.
How many do they recruit to be cricket umpires every year?Hey, I'm just saying what my girlfriend just lip read off him, she works at a school for deaf. It's not that hard to see what he says.
I believe their main focus is on recruiting Australian openers actuallyHow many do they recruit to be cricket umpires every year?
